There probably is, but they probably don't deserve to be in it, either. Gronk isn't even a RB where that sort of thing is expected.

Well, probably Terrell but definitely not Gale. Even still, they're RBs so a shorter career is expected. TEs typically have a long career.

Terrell Davis is similar though less dominant at his peak. Gronk is a HOFer because he was the best ever at his best hands down. Plus his resume includes multiple Super Bowls. Gronk enhanced the quality of the sport during his career and set the bar for excellence unlike other players regardless of position at any point in NFL history. SBLIII
Great career but it was time to hang it up. Gronk was done as a player and you don't want these player to suffer through seasons. Right decision and NE gets some needed cap relief. A trade will happen soon.

There's plenty of players who put up a season that could be considered the best ever at their position and are not HOF quality players. Why? Longetivity. If he were a WR with his stat lines, the thought of him being in the HOF would be laughable.

I'd be shocked if Gronk isn't in the HOF one day. Yeah, relatively short career, but he was dominant and the undisputed best at his position for most of his career. FinSting
Legend TE. He would outphysical/block your booty into the 2nd row, or he'll bust out a 75-yd TD. Just an awe-inspiring player, a joy to watch.

Doubtful we'll see anyone dominate a position like that - for a while, Gronk was the undisputed best at his position with nobody really around to challenge him. So does Belly look at one of the Iowa TEs in the draft? Yeah, I think he goes 2x in the draft. Trevon Wesco and Dawson Knox are my choices.
