Everyone loses to the Warriors. How is that not competing? It's not like the Pelicans were a bottom dwelling team with him last year. They were disappointing this year and then Davis missed 25 games. Not competing is the Phoenix Suns. The Pelicans were a postseason team last year. They haven't been able to be consistently in the playoffs. Davis just demanded a trade to a bigger market team for a reason, it's going to be almost impossible for them to build a championship contender down there. They also had a fake GM structure (a football dude ran it), a terrible training staff, and the worst wing rotation in the NBA. They blew it. It looks like they are changing things, and kudos to them, but they absolutely blew it. If the guy is so great, why can't he lead the team to the playoffs? I mean, Harden got the Rockets to the playoffs years ago with a pretty bad roster (Kevin Martin, etc). If you haven't been on the Warriors or on LeBron team, you haven't won a championship. If he really wants to win and that's what it's all about, why not demand a trade to Golden State? Playing for the Lakers or Knicks you know that there's a chance for the organization to add another star via free agency. Zion and his camp can't be happy to be going there, the star just requested a trade and they've done very little to build a good team that can compete around him. So two years ago when Davis played in 75 games and the Pelicans didn't make the playoffs... that's the franchise's fault entirely? Why wasn't Davis able to will his team to the postseason.... other players who are deemed elite are able to do that on a consistent basis. Why can't he? The Lakers are the single biggest joke of a franchise in ALL of sports right now. Those are the teams he's forcing himself to go to? Maybe Davis isn't the player we all thought he was then. One of my gripes with Davis is that he wants to play the 4, but he's a modern 5. If he's playing the 4 then that gives your team problems with your other big. Either you have another amazing big to pair with Davis, a guy who can both shoot and defend the rim AND the perimeter *cough*Zion*cough* or you need Davis playing the 5 in the modern NBA.
