MWil23
I’m one of the few that likes Mack Wilson. He’s got good instincts and sideline to sideline ability. He does struggle at the point of attack and taking on blocks, but he still has plenty of room to fill out his frame. He’s got major potential as a 4-3 WLB and is good in pass coverage. I like him paired with Schobert and if we have another SS/ILB or 2 to help him then I think he can be a youngster to build around.

The things that scare me the most about Mack is if we hire McDaniel he gets cut. Mack is a excellent role player and has a part in the right system

He got some valuable starting experience and was thrust in too early due to injuries. He’s not like Kirksey who will surely get cut or even a veteran making a couple/three million a year. He is playing on a mid to low round rookie contract. He will likely be back.

I'm not even one of his biggest fans, but there is a 0% chance he is cut.

Pruitt3443
While I am not a Mack Wilson fan, I do not see much coming up from the college ranks this year in the form of Linebackers. Maybe Isaiah Simmons but not seeing anything to get too excited about beyond him. I do not see Wilson getting cut, but I would like to see him pushed to the bench by a quality starting LB, if one could be had in free agency. I think they really need to resign Schobert, so at least we have one starting caliber LB.

Thus mack gets cut schobert gets let loose. Just bringing up a friendly point I

After all he is on the other side of the ball. That will depend on the defensive coordinator brings in

Also can’t assume he will bring in a pats defensive coach to be his DC. When he set up his staff with the Colts, he hired Eberflus to be his DC. He had no connections to the pats from what I know. Eberflus is a 4-3 guy as well. also Schobert could be bumped to an OLB IMO Edited January 4, 2020 by buno67

After Mangini, he went to DC and coached in the Dallas 4/3 scheme Edited January 4, 2020 by buno67

candyman93
If we run New England’s scheme, it’s designed to make the LBs look amazing and the defensive line disciplined but not flashy. It’s why their LBs are all huge AF. They rush the passer a ton.
Mind Character
Zack Baun, OLB Wisconsin is a strong "my guy" candidate to go in the 3rd but be our starting WLB for years to come. Sione Takitaki SLB // Joe Schobert MLB // Zack Baun WLB. Before the draft I thought Takitaki was the superior outside LB compared to Wilson and I still do. Wilson can still be a valuable contributor with improvements but his angles and run support got worse as the year went on.

Wilson could be a 3rd down and 2nd down specialist in year 2, he is a very good coverage linebacker, he doesnt like defending the run very much, and i dont think he is dond of taking on olinemen.
