You want a guy who’s never played in the NFL, who hasn’t practiced with NFL players and won’t practice with NFL players until *maybe* late July if he’s lucky to start against the Baltimore Ravens?

Are you out of your freaking mind?

Goes to show how low i think of the other two

And 2 games plus a month of practice is plenty enough time. He’s had the playbook for a few months so it’s not like he’s right off the street. No different than any other year in that sense.

Ok, but experience is a thing.

Let them battle it out in an abbreviated camp.  If he’s ready, great, if not play the vet until he is.

It’s not rocket surgery.

Experience being nothing special. I’d rather go with the guy who has a higher upside.

Agree.

I think too much emphasis is put on developing players.

Look at how things have changed re starting drafted QBs recently.

Baptism by fire is the way I would go with high upside guys.

Lol who are these players we’ve tried to develop?

We’ve led more lambs to the slaughter than any other franchise in the league.

Was talking about the league generally, not us except on a go-forward basis.

Rule of thumb used to be that you sit a drafted QB for a year.

We even tried that with Mayfield.

But while you want to start the veteran over Delphin, Backwards and I are saying start Delphin.

I literally never said that.

Correct.

You said: "If he’s ready, great, if not play the vet until he is."

What I, and I think Backwards is saying, is start him based on his upside and let him grow into it instead of settling for the vet.
