Did Leiter top out at 124 pitches? How some of these coaches ride these pitchers in College, it’s ridiculous. Especially after the shortened season.

69, 93, 94, 96.

Thats his number of pitches in his previous four starts. So I dont really see a problem with him at 124. He will probably have an extra rest day this week and be back to around 100 pitches next week unless he has another no-hitter going. Corbin usually does a good job managing his pitching staff.

Didn’t know he was already 5 starts into his season. Not as bad as I was thinking.

Yeah. 124 is actually kinda efficient for 16 Ks.

This weekend started SEC play, so the guys were probably stretched out as best as they can.

The days of a coach riding a guy 150 pitches and throwing him three days later are gone. College Baseball has really become MLB lite; exactly like Manfred wants. I think college baseball would have gone to wood bats by now if it weren't for bat manufacturers and the amount of money they would lose.

The abusing of collegiate pitchers mostly happens in the postseason, IMO.  120 pitches during a regular season start isn't horrific, since they only pitch once every 7 days.  The problems start when you throw 120 pitches and then are asked to turn around and throw 60 more 2 days later.

I just haven't been able to get into the college baseball season this year.  Partially because i've been terribly busy, but I also just haven't felt compelled to seek it out.  Not exactly sure why.  I did see Kumar Rocker's start against Oklahoma State.  Slider and command looked real good, I think the fastball is a bit straight, but he was placing it where he wanted it.  Changeup was a bit stiff at times, but it's a usable pitch now and when he does it right, it's a legit swing and miss pitch as well.  I need to find some time to tune into a Jack Leiter start.

Honestly this is why I like Vanderbilt's coaching staff. Aside from constantly producing top talent they are also routinely making decisions very clearly about the kid and not win at all cost. One of the few colleges I'd be ok with a top high school pitcher going instead of signing

Confirmed. Bummer.

That's tough.  Gonna be real interesting to see where he ends up.

What’s up with Kumar Rockers dip in velocity? Read in a couple of spots he’s around 90.

I know he was working on getting more movement on his fastball, as it was pretty straight.  That usually drops the velo a bit.  Haven't seen any velo readings this spring yet.
