Peter Bukowski -   Rick Wagner allowed just 2 pressures in 2 games against the Vikings last year. If he's the Week 1 starter for an injured Billy Turner, that's a heck of a backup plan.

  • Zach Kruse -    Was surprised to see this when I looked. Definitely was expecting to see a bunch of pressures allowed to Hunter.

It's surprising because it's not true.

Wagner allowed 4 pressures (1 hit, 3 hurries) in one VIkings-Lions game, and 0 pressures in the other. But he only played the first half of the second game before leaving at halftime with an injury. So that's 4 pressures in 1.5 games, not 2 in 2.

Hunter meanwhile had 10 pressures (1 sack, 1 hit and 8 hurries) in the first game and 4 (3 sacks and a hurry) in the other.

Wagner's earlier games with Detroit vs MIN:
2018: 2, 1, 2, and 0, 1, 2 (8 total)
2017: 1, 0, 3, and 1, 0, 1 (6 total)

So over 5.5 games with DET, Wagner vs MIN allowed 18 pressures: 4 sacks, 3 hits, 11 hurries.

Hunter is almost certainly going to miss the game or play limited snaps while hurt, but if he's healthy GB can't count on Wagner to shut him down.

I'll take it if so, considering the state of GB's RT situation this week

Considering that the rest of the line outside of Yannic has the following stats I will more then take it:

Shamar Stephen: 82 GP, 4 S, 11 QBH, 5 TFL

Jaleel Johnson: 37 GP,  4 S, 7 QBH, 6 TFL

Ifeadi Odenigbo: 17 GP, 7 S, 13 QBH, 7 TFL

Jalyn Holmes: 11 GP 1 S, 1 QBH, 2 TFL

Eddie Yarbrough: 31 GP, 1 S, 8 QBH, 8 TFL

DJ Wonnum: 0 GP, 0 S, 0 QBH, 0 TFL

All starters outside of Yannic combine for 17 sacks, 40 QBH, 28 TFL.

Our resident JAG DL Dean Lowry stacks up well against these guys.......

Just for comparison sake Zadarius Smith just last year had 13.5 Sacks, 37 QBH, & 17 TFL. If football is won in the trenches there trenches are pretty lackluster on both sides of the ball. Honestly Yannic is not on the same level as Z, Clark, or Hunter either IMO.

Don't sleep on Yannick. He's a very good player, but he's just one man. If he's rushing off the left side, I'll take Bakh against anyone. Odenigbo is the wildcard. He came on last year for them, and probably contributed to the decision to let Griffin walk. On the plus side, the Vikes don't have much of an interior pass rush threat. If Hunter doesn't play, I'm not worried about it.

Chris Myers, Greg Jennings and Brock Huard with the call. https://506sports.com/nfl.php?yr=2020&wk=1 Interesting that a portion of southwest Illinois getting Packers/Vikings instead of Bears/Lions. Are these former st. Louis fans who hate Chicago?

Nothing like paying for NFL Sunday Ticket and not being able to watch the game during a road trip because it’s on local TV and blacked out...

Odenigbo's stats are all from last year, in about a half-season's worth of snaps as a depth DE and 3rd down pass rusher. If he can produce at a similar rate on a higher workload this year, he'll be a good starter, not a JAG.

Even with Hunter out, the DEs should be able to generate some pass rush. But they'll be a liability in the run game. And the DTs are mediocre.

Fully expecting the Packers to run the **** out of the ball.
