Yeah you don’t need all pros with every first rounder.  You need to not whiff and bring in good players who can hold down a position for 7-9 years.

ESPECIALLY at those "must have" positions. It's one thing to "whiff" on Jadeveon Clowney, as he never lived up to the hype of #1 overall, but he's still a very solid starting DE in the NFL. The same for guys like A.J. Hawk at #5. He was a 10+ year NFL starter, and in hindsight, never lived up to that high draft billing, but he's not Barkevious Mingo, Justin Gilbert, or Trent Richardson either.

Exactly, and that’s ok.  Not everyone is going to develop into what you hope when you draft them, but are they capable of being a solid player and doing their job for some years?  That’s what separates the well run franchises from the poor ones imo.

Can you believe that AJ Hawk is only 36 years old. He could still be playing right now but I feel like hes been retired forever.

Trent Richardson was the biggest mind-ef as a bust.  Mingo and Gilbert you could see coming.  How a guy who had so much production in college and checked almost all the physical traits couldn't make the transition, at RB, to the pros is baffling.  Alabama's o-line really hid how terrible his instincts were.

He also played a position that should have disqualified him from being drafted at 4, so we kinda deserved it.
