We'd already be in the PO this season if we had an average D.

We'd be in the post season if the offense could finish drives as well. The Chargers and Dolphins games both could have been won with better offensive play calling.

Having the talent they have on offense and being ranked 25th in red zone efficiency is telling. Behind teams like the Broncos, Bears, Dolphins, WFT, Jaguars.

They lead the NFL in FGs from 20-29 yards.

You can have a terrible defense and still have issues on offense. There is a lot to be fixed in year 4.

Seasons are made in December. This has always been the case. It troubles me that Carr seems to tail off in December every year. Goes back the the consistency I've always had a problem with.

Almost every afc po team doesn’t play in a dome. No chance for us even if we sneak into the offs.

If we finished drives well, considering we're already 7th in points per drive, we'd basically be a top 3 offense carrying a bottom 3 defense (31st in points per drive). Not really a recipe for success.

Why would you focus on the things the offense isn't good at when the defense isn't good at anything?

Because too many people think you have to pick a side for some reason. Offense or defense.

It's not black and white. If you want to build a consistent playoff performing team, then you need to address multiple areas. And Red Zone scoring is a major one.

At best, you hope to get the defense to average next year. An average defense, with a 25th ranked red zone scoring offense isn't going to win you games consistently in December or anything in the playoffs.

Further... the talent is there on offense. Is it that much to ask to focus on better play calling in the red zone going forward? That the coach assess himself as a play caller? Can they do that and address a failing defense?

People just think fixing the defense comes before expecting the offense to be perfect.

I think fixing the defense is the priority.  Our offense shouldn't have to score 30 to win, that's insane.  It'd be nice if we could consistently score 30, yeah.  But it shouldn't be a fixture on this team that other teams look at and say... They can't stop us.

My take, tweak the offense, add some help.  Heavy focus on defense from the top down.

Finding the D is the priority.

Need a new competent D staff and then Gruden needs to let them work, evaluate and get together with the scots too.

Since the O roster is in good shape and there are multiple successful areas on O, Gruden should have the time to correct the abysmal RZ offense.

We are still lacking a RZ, playmaking, physical WR.  Not having that type of Wr is hurting our RZ numbers big time.  D's focus on Waller and our other WR's are below average with size/physicality and making contested catches in tight spaces.  That limits what we can do in the RZ big time.  i was hoping Edwards would show that he can be that type of threat this year but that never happened.

No doubt D need to be priority number 1 and finding a stud 3T to get interior pressure is critical.
