The down side to that being the possibility of the offense making mistakes....

Of course.

Just pointing out that waiting around taking every second off the clock doesn't wear out the defence, it just shortens the game. Yes it keeps Wentz out of the game but it keeps Rodgers out of the game as well , it takes everyone out the game its just dead time.

Doesn't GB want Wentz IN the game?

Not if we play our soft, crappy zone and they have two good tight ends on the field.  Easiest looks as a QB followed up with easy throws.

Now, if we play a pressure set?  Challenge those receivers and TE's?  Yah, then I want him on the field.  Turnover waiting to happen.  We just don't play that way, though.

With our tackling imagine how good Dillon looks in practice

It's probably misleading because in practice our guys are there and "make the play" with no actual tackling, but in a game the RB breaks the first 4 tackles and we get him down 10 yards later after first contact.

Yeah, all they tackle is a large green donut.

According to his Twitter feed, he's not been well at all.  Not sure if he's the worst player case in the league or not, but he's been hit pretty hard by this thing.  Yet another example of the very unpredictable nature of this virus.

IIRC Manny Sanders in New Orleans got hit pretty hard with it. I remember reading something with quotes from him that it was rough. Quick search says he missed two games.

Mike Pettine's kryptonite. Howard hasn't been relevant in 2 years, except last September in Green Bay when we made him look like Derrick Henry.

I hope the grounds crew is pep talking the pylons right now.

*Turns out, that was Cunningham that fumbled into the end zone after that John Fox challenge. It was Howard in my ironclad memory bank.

So shorten the game ...

Why ?   That's the sort of strategy you might go for if you are underdog. Shortening the game means fewer drives means more chance of an upset. Unless we think Philadelphia is the much stronger side that doesn't really make sense. A defense doesn't get worn out by standing around waiting for the game to start. If anything they would get worn out by faster tempo.

TOP is by a country mile the most pointless stat in the NFL.  Number of snaps on offence is relevant. TOP is irrelevant.

Just a heads up that this opinion is not shared by the guy controlling the snap. AR said earlier in the season that defenses get more fatigued from holding their stances than offenses.
