He’s had issues with alcohol, Xanax, codeine and cocaine (both rock and powder). Probably other stuff too. He’s a drug addict and has been since he was in middle school.

Gotcha. I wasn’t aware of the extent of everything because all I ever hear about is marijuana with him.

In other words, he partakes of the same substances that the average Wall St. daytrader does on a daily basis.

Yes, it is certainly true that drug addicts come from all walks of life. 

The difference being that a pro athlete is one of the few types of people who will necessarily lose their livelihood for being one.

And one of his violations in the past was a DUI related occurrence

..... do you know how many jobs make you take a drug test to even get the job? Do you know how many jobs have policies where they can just outright terminate you if you fail a drug test or have a drug related issue?

That word 'terminate' sounds harsh how about 'un-instated' instead?
