or who in ultimately expect them to sign based off of this being Carolina North, Cam Newton.

It does sorta feel like that’s where this is headed, doesn’t it?

Everyone is afraid of them making some huge over-the-top move for a QB, but I don’t think we’ve been that team in almost a decade. If anything, we’ve been far too conservative since the RGIII deal, never taking many chances or making many bold moves. I think Snyder got burned badly on that one (and others, obviously) and has become extremely risk-averse — and I suspect that Rivera and Hurney (and presumably Mayhew as well) are more than willing to join him in the conservative approach.

I think it’s far more likely that they decide they don’t want to trade for these veteran QBs and that they don’t believe they will be in position to draft a guy they want. I think that will have them going back to the old comfortable standbys — (1) a prove it deal (2) for an experienced guy (3) who they already know and have had positive results with. Cam for something like 2/$20M with perhaps a guy like Mond or Newman to “develop” behind him seems like their speed.

I actually think Rivera is very much for acquiring a veteran QB.  Multiple reports indicated we were in the Stafford sweepstakes till the end, and we didn't make a weak offer.  There's also a lot of other QB movement going on out there.  I think Philly is definitely going to trade Wentz.  Now obviously they won't trade him to us, but if they trade him to say, the Bears, Mitchell Trubisky would likely head into Free Agency.  Now I don't want him but that's an option.  Obviously Cam will also be available but he looked really washed up this year.  Aaron Rodgers theoretically is available but I don't think he would ever sign off on coming here (and I honestly don't think he wants to leave GB I think he wants a contract extension and Jordan Love traded).  Then there's Watson, I've stated it a bunch of times but I don't think we have the ammo to acquire him.  IMO he will go to the Jets or Dolphins.  If he goes to the Dolphins, I think the Texans will take Tua in the trade.  If the Jets trade for Watson, I'm not so sure the Texans would want Darnold.  I think they would just draft a QB at 2.

Personally I think the 2 most interesting trade targets are Jordan Love and Sam Darnold.  I can absolutely see Rodgers pushing Love out.  Darnold would be a reclamation project but I think he fits the short passing game they seem to want to do.  Could either be had for our 2nd round pick?

Cam Newton is the LAST guy I want here, so it will probably happen. 😙

I agree with you on Darnold. A short passing game and taking shots down the field at certain times fits him would help cutting down the interceptions.
I know Jordan Love is young and was a crazy year with COVID but he couldn’t beat out Tim Boyle to be Rodgers back up. I never even heard of Tim Boyle.
Don’t know what Darnold’s compensation would be but I would definitely inquire about his availability.

Honestly, we SHOULD at least call about Wentz, if it's true or not.

Rather go Mariota for a mid round pick. He’s in the last year of his contract at a 10 mill cap hit.

i would be all for Mariota with Heinicke backing him up and a rookie in the 3rd or 4th like Mond

If there’s a 1st round pick price tag attached to him (and to that contract), as has been rumored, the only real reason to call is to hit them with the “Good day, sir...I SAID GOOD DAY!” move while loudly slamming down a rotary phone in disgust.

Sure. But if they're not getting the offers they want and expect and have to lower expectations, who knows?

Yeah, I agree with you. I was mostly just acting out because of my annoyance about the offer that Chicago has supposedly made. The Rams have to give up a 1st to dump Jared Goff and his bad contract, but our division rival is somehow going to receive a 1st for Wentz and his bad contract? That really chaps my ***.

If they get to the desperation point, I’d gladly take Wentz off their hands and see what we can do with him. But I’m sure they wouldn’t just dump him to a division rival — they’d have to be able to get somebody to take on that contract for a low pick cost (IND, NE, CHI obviously).
