2021 7 Round Mock Edited 2/23/21

Recommended Posts

Going to be a lot of changes with trades and free agent signings.  Will be curious with just pro days, will see how accurate those numbers will be for certain guys.  A lot of work, now having 7 rounds finally when started with 3, but clearly the COMP picks are coming which will change a ton of things potentially.

It is not done with some simple online computer simulation or pre ranked players, where one just clicks and has all team needs sitting right there and playing rankings, only based off my lists and rankings.  Lot harder doing that instead of just given lists of players someone else made and moving them around.

Biggest draft risers since the start of the 2020 season based on my pre season draft ranking are obviously Zach Wilson, Mac Jones, Zaven Collins, Kyle Trask, Kadarius Toney, Javonte Williams, Jaelan Phillips, Elijah Moore, Daviyon Nixon and Landon Dickerson. To a little lesser extent the likes of Azeez Ojulari and Christian Barmore.  Guys who fell the most arguably, at this till this point would be Tamorrion Terry, Marvin Wilson, Shaun Wade and Chuba Hubbard.

Worst possible choice for the Falcons of all the top 10 picks.  Pitts should never even be a consideration to us at this point. This even includes a choice if we trade down i would still take players over Pitts in the 8 to 15 range.  Not because i don't like him but more so that we have bigger needs and players just as good if not better at those needs.  Also where as i don't mind grabbing a DE i for sure don't want to grab 2 of them in the 1st 3 rounds.   This draft looks like you draft off our needs from last years need draft chart XD    We have other needs this year in Safety, RB, LG/LT, DE, CB, LB, and possibly QB depending.   I do like both the DE's we got though as players i just wouldn't take both of them over much bigger needs and other positions.

Here is how i would have drafted with who was available at each pick

1st - Micah Parson - LB
2nd - Travis Ettiene or Javante Williams - RB   Wouldn't be against a Holland at Safety here either if you like Trey Sermon at RB in the 3rd as well.
3rd - Carlos Basham - DE - Actually like this pick but depending what i did with the 1st 2 picks i might go Sermon here if i go Safety in 2nd.

I like the first and second round pick for the Giants. However Nick Gates did well at Center for the Giants and they signed another Center for 2 million. I have far more  concerns at RT and to a degree LG than I do at Center.  A RT or a playmaking LB would be great in the 3rd round for the Giants.

DE for the Falcons I agree is their biggest need or RB but honestly no DE or RB should be picked 4th overall in this draft.  Parsons I like and I had him there for awhile, he makes sense.  But Kyle Pitts is getting pretty underrated in this process, the guy is a great football player and could be a dominant pro either at TE or at WR.  Say he runs a 4.5 40 and has a great vertical people might start paying attention.  Getting DeVonta or Chase also makes sense since Julio has been hurt so much.  The QB talk for Atlanta not sure that makes much sense either, not sure they just can him or prep for the future already, best thing they could do is trade the pick to a team wanting a QB possibly and move down in the draft would be a great idea.

RB would be a nice pick no question and they need one at some point.

The Giants like Nick Gates?  RT could be a problem but that is if Solder is absolutely done for, is he?  Peart has some upside I feel and the OG spots are decent but nothing great.  Humphrey I just saw was still around and looking for teams who might want to upgrade the center spot I thought of the Giants.  Either way the OL has to be address and maybe Gates could slide over to guard, isn't he naturally a guard anyway?

Solder is just about done for, he did not play well when he was the LT two season ago and he is making too much money not to be a cap hit.  If you listen to the podcast of the people that do film steady of the Giants, they talk highly about the job Nick Gates did at Center. I have to believe the Giants see this and know this. We can survive another year with Zeitler but at Left Guard Hernandez was demoted and  Lemieux was good at run blocking horrible at pass blocking. Yes Peart has some upside, but he got some playing time at RT and towards the end of the year, he did not look good. I have no issues with addressing the O-Line I just don't see the Center position being the need. In particular when we have such a devoid of talent at Linebacker, we play a 3-4 defense but only  have one linebacker that is a true play maker, would  be great if we could get a bit more impact talent at that position.

Downs showed some promise I thought as a young player, same with Coughlin.  TJ Brunson has upside, so does Tae Crowder and Blake Martinez is very good.  Cam Brown is athletically gifted and Fackrell I like.  Lorenzo Carter is a decent player also along with Shead but yeah they probably do need another OLB who can get after the passer.  They got a decent amount of inside guys, also have David Mayo who is more a ILB also.

Too bad for them there is not a ton of top level 3/4 OLBs in this draft.  With how this board falls maybe they should take Tyron instead of Wade but Wade would be a steal at that point in the draft.  Unless they are sold on Holmes in the slot or think Beal and Yiadom can become solid players.

With Penei off the board, can't argue with reuniting Chase with Burrow.  Great WR group of Chase, Higgins, and Boyd.

I think the Bengals are ok with their group of young LB's with Logan Wilson, Germaine Pratt, and Akeem Davis-Gaither all in their early to mid-20's.  I like Browning, but I think they are looking for Edge, CB, or OL here.  Spencer Brown, Levi Onwuzurike, Asante Samuel Jr,  Quincy Roche, Trey Smith, Jaelan Phillips, or Carlos Basham all seem like possibilities there.

If the Bengals haven't gone OL in the first two rounds, then Cosmi is a home run pick in rd 3.  I wouldn't be opposed to double dipping if Cosmi is still there regardless.  It'd be hard to pass on the raw athleticism of Oweh on the edge in rd 3 though.  He could be used as a situational pass rusher to start with and expand into a bigger role in years 2 and 3.  I'd be shocked if Creed Humphrey lasted until rd 3.  Cameron Sample could also be a possibility if Geno Atkins is cut for cap savings.

Not a bad Bengals draft at all, but if it were me with the Board as it is in each of those situations, I would probably have done:

  1. Ja'Marr Chase, WR, LSU
  2. Spencer Brown, OT, Northern Iowa
  3. Jayson Oweh, Edge, Penn State

Toughest call is rd 2, a lot of guys I like still left there, could be a good spot to trade back and pick up another early day 3 pick or a day 2 pick in 2022.

I really like Lorenzo Carter, but he is coming off a season ending injury, while he has all the tools he has not been an impact player yet, so I don't think the coaching staff can go into next season counting on him to be an impact player, exact same thing with Ximines. The other linebackers you mentioned, while I think our coaching staff put them in good position to make plays, there is a clear limit to their talent and physical ability.  If we draft the #2 CB like we do in your mock our secondary is loaded. Love did a great job at playing CB on the last game of the season (though he has horrible hands). I see him and Beal competing for the #3 spot.

With as much as they invested in Leonard Williams (a 3rd and a 5th) I don't see the Giants just letting him walk. So with him Dexter Lawrence and most likely BJ Hill we are fine at DL.

So if we draft a quality CB with one of our first three draft picks, LB is the only unit that could really use some upgrades. The only Linebacker I can count on at this point is Martinez.

19 Washington: Jeremiah Owusu-Koramoah Notre Dame SR OLB

21 Indianapolis: Christian Darrisaw Virginia Tech JR OG/OT

Pick is solid. I think I would prefer Darrisaw, but I am not going to complain.

This could be different if we don't sign anyone, but I do think WFT signs a WR. It might make the other ones better options. Still, fine with the pick.

I am meh on these picks. I don't have too high of hopes for Newman, and we have bigger issues than needing Sermon with that talent on the board. I'd really like Horn there and then would settle for Newman or Surratt or something.

Radunz over Carman.
Creed Humphry at #63, though Phillips is a nice get
For LB think off-ball. Also, two of the top three WR are likely not coming back.

If you like Azeez and Marlin the Titans first two rounds make sense.

But they also spent last year's first rounder on a tackle.  He and Taylor Lewan didn't play and we were still fine.

Doubling up on an edge, a WR, or an interior OL would make more sense.

I dont understand why Bucs need to draft TWO safeties. Winfield is a great player for us and is only a rookie. Whitehead and Edwards have been making plays all post season. 0 reason to draft a safety let alone 2. OLB round 2, OL depth round 3
