The mechanic I go to graduated with my parents and he’s always given me ridiculously good prices for stuff as a family friend. Like when I got divorced, he put 3 newer used tires on the beater I was driving for free.

You drive a tricycle?!?!?!

@beekay414 you get that job?!?!?!

Haven't heard back yet. I'm in a win-win scenario. I either get that job, and a $7/hr pay bump, or I keep a job that I'm really happy at. I'm making enough to live with some comfort, only working 4 days a week (3 day weekend EVERY weekend), and I enjoy my current job. No matter what happens, I'm good.

None apparently. I put an update in the relationship thread.

I'm just gonna to shoot my shot and ask her out. Let the chips fall where they may.

This should be the approach ...putting to much stock into a 'budding' relationship is too much emotional stress that none of us need!! ha

The mechanic i go to...

Well usually it's just me.  But if it's something i know i can't handle, it's a guy who went to a strong polytechnical institute, and has years of resume working at a VW/Audi/Porsche dealership, and specialist European car shop after that.  Before branching out on his own to start an independent local garage.  With some solid personal references from similar car owners.

I would personally not take my car to someone who graduated with either of my parents.  Though i will "let" my dad help me, by letting me park my car in his garage and use all of his tools, and he's a lot better with an angle grinder if that becomes necessary.  But also just generally, he's great to have around...for old school farmer tricks and general helpfulness.  A lifetime of learning isn't nothing.  But the first time through anything is still always a learning experience.  Technical details are important.

Also, technically, 3 news tires and 1 old one sounds like neglecting good technical practice.  Dangerous handling characteristics.

Today i've been painting art.  For very personal, heartfelt, and low dollar Christmas presents for some family people.  And really reflecting on why i hate painting art.  Also, why i've decided to pursue other...more technical avenues.  Makes me feel pretty good about it, in spite of bad news about my program going all online for some indefinite amount of time.

Anyone else do much painting?  There's something really fun to it, obviously, and i do still kinda love slapping together a landscape every now and then...but trying to incorporate living animals, the results were not something i'm altogether proud of.  Even with acrylics, i always find myself either torn or annoyed between trying to slash and dash a painting together, and then trying to idiotically detail it to much consternation and ruination.  I'm just not built to be a creative painter.  lol.

I suck at painting anything for art. I can sketch all day, do shading, color in with my markers or whatever. But when paint hits canvas for me I become borderline hopeless.

Tell me about it! Definitely easier said than done... I was going to reply to your other post but realized I needed more details. And the more details, the more the analyzing.
