Here the thing. If those YACers aren't getting free on the first break and the play breaks down even a little, Jimmy G and Mac Jones give you nothing. They can steer the car that exists. They aren't a new engine. I'd have been perfectly happy getting someone to steer the car on the cheap at 12. I am not happy trading away two first round picks that will be essential parts to keep the car running for guys that can only operate an excellent offense and not allow it to break free of some of its constraints. Low ADoT specialists invite more bodies into the box to help with both the run and the short passing game and they have to constantly operate among a sea of bodies, often having to look off underneath defenders and live on a razor's edge just to get 7 yard passes. I want the open space behind those box bodies. And while Mac Jones has many deep completions, many of them involved 20 yards of separation and passes that forced the receiver to adjust backwards due to lack of arm strength. He is not as good at getting in behind the array of box bodies that our excellent running game invites. He doesn't juice up the whole car so that when you have worse parts, it can still work well. He'll be plenty successful under Shanahan - which quarterback wouldn't? But he'd leave a similar ceiling on our success.

Are you sure you've watched much Mac? I know he had some struggles in '19, but '20 was lights out. 

And we have heard that both Fields and Lance do well on tests, but we haven't heard anything like what Jones remembered with that play. That is astounding.

I have one kid, a 5 year old boy.. Wow is it hard to imagine wrangling 2 or 3 of them, let alone 5! Much respect, Chris
