10 pts - 10 reb SL debut.   All 10 points scored off dunks, including THIS one while I think all 3 of his 3 pt attempts were blocked.    So much to work on but some moments like this to have me fantasizing what he could be in 2-3 years playing with Melo and Bouknight and adding some strength.

The Hornets took the right approach to the draft swinging on guys with high upside that pair well with LaMelo. Kai/Thor are both raw but have high ceilings and Bouknight will be able to play in a 6th man type of role as a rookie then provide a cheap replacement for Rozier in year 2. Scottie Lewis is super raw but another guy with elite athleticism.

Honestly, IIRC the Hornets have been criticized for taking proven, older college players without a ton of upside early in the draft for years. Interesting to see a complete shift over the last two years.

Honestly the Lakers weren't really a great spot for him development wise with Luke Walton at the helm and then LeBron coming in his second year here. I was kinda glad for the Lakers young guys that they got out and pretty much had a team of their own to help build up. Not sure why the relationship with the Pelicans soured the way it did, but he was making nice progress there at least offensively/shooting.

Really don't think Lonzo's issues were because of fit.  I think it had more to do with Lavar running his mouth more than Lonzo's game could possibly match.  And unfortunately, adding LeBron James accelerates the timeline.  IF you're getting 15/5/6 shooting 38% from beyond the arc with good defense, that's good production.

I get all that and you need to stop with this Cade/LeBron crap. He was never in the same stratosphere as LeBron as a prospect lol. Not even in the same area code as Luka either. Most people weren't saying that and the ones that few that were are idiots. It's just silly.

Cade Cunningham himself:

Quote

Rod Beard: Cade Cunningham on NBA player comparisons: “I hear a lot of the Luka comparisons and I can see it.”

Sam Vecenie, The Athletic

Quote

Cunningham’s upside is legitimately being a top-five player in the league at some point given how complete his game is.
