A disclaimer: I do not own a PFF subscription but my friend does and sent me this list to post it. PFF is obviously flawed, and in some cases downright laughable, I do not necessarily share their opinions on the top/worst players. Still, this should be interesting. Keep in mind their new player grade scale lists players via a 1-100 format. Also keep in mind that players who do not have a certain Snap % are not included (not sure what exactly the minimum snap count is... I think its like 25%).

I have a few issues. But the most egregious is Tommy Townsend as the 4th worst punter.

He's currently averaging 48.5 yards per punt w/ a net average of 45.9 and a long of 68.

19 of his 31 punts have been inside the 20 with only 1 touchback.

Only 15 of his 31 kicks have been returned. Those 15 went for a total of 61yds or 4yds per return.

That a boy Terrell   A.J. been putting the clamps on people all season long.   Now if we could only get another CB to pair with him and some edge rusher were working with something.  Actually him being #1 is even more impressive ot me considering how long he has to cover for with our god awful pass rush group.   We actually have the 2 worst guys listed at edge rusher on our team in Means and Copeland XD

Patterson also has to be by far the best budget pickup for production of any player in the league so far.   That man is almost our whole offense at times >.>     Pitts doing solid work as well for a rookie to be int he top 5 for TE's.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen someone have as high of a grade as Trent Williams does.

I'm a fan of PFF and listen to the pods (a terrible thing to admit round here). Their message is that Trent Williams is having pretty much the greatest year of any player at any position in at least the last 15 years. And not even by that close of a margin.

He's been on the bottom 5 of the list the entire year, and literally the only rationale I can think of is that they nuked his grade with the shank he had against Washington, and since he has the fewest punts of any full-time punter this season, he hasn't kicked enough to climb back from that. Though honestly, the 19 yard punt against Washington makes his average being that high all the more impressive.

CEH was stuck on the bottom five for a good while for the same reason. Even though most weeks he had graded well, the fumble against Baltimore tanked his grade and the injury kept him from getting enough snaps to climb back out. Now he's made it back to a 65 after the 3 games back (that's higher than Darrel Williams, but lower than Derrick Gore, for reference.)

The negatively graded plays just hold so much weight, since most snaps PFF grades as basically nothing. I'm like 99% sure it's the penalties against Dallas and Denver that dropped Trey Smith out of the top 5. I'm kind of surprised Hill is still as high as he is given the drop problems. But he has been stellar otherwise.

-Jonathan Taylor 4th behind a WR and 2 backups. (Kidding, Patterson fans don’t bite my head off)
-Zach Pascal bottom 8 for WRs showing that blocking ability can only take you so far if you drop passes frequently.
-Braden Smith top OTs very nice.
-Darius Leonard showing up on the list at 7 shows how playing through an injury affects your impact and yet he’s still punching balls out at a really good pace. He’s just not piling up the tackle numbers.

If not for these 4 I would’ve asked if no Colts showed up on the list because of the bye.

I've been impressed that PFF has properly rated Raekwon Davis very low all season. It is incredible how clumsy and unaware he is. But PFF rated him very high and touted him last season. Often they play favorites and maintain biases from season to season. If it had happened again with Raekwon Davis they would have lost all credibility with me. Big strong guy who occasionally clogs up the interior. But what a deficit starting a guy like that with no playmaking ability or pass rush ability. Even if he has good plays against someone like the Jets you can throw it out. Not athletic enough to sustain.
