If the defense couldn't be great under Zimmer (with a lot of the same talent) then I don't know how it would have been better under Ryans. All of whom have never really won it all. Hitman, Kendricks and Hunter have been on top-5 defensive units and they should remember the pain of being crushed by Nick Foles-led Eagles. This unit won some big games this year, but it's also the reason some teams crushed us. If someone were to try and convince me we threw the Eagles and Cowboys games because the Vikes are so talented they figured they'd hold back to save stuff for the playoffs . . . I'd seriously question their sanity. As badly as I'd love seeing this team win the SB this year, no team makes it to a SB with a defense performing like this one. Given the experience and talent, I have to put the cruddy performance squarely on the shoulders of the DC. Donatell needs to go. And, In addition to replacing him, a superstud DT or MLB would be my 1st Rd draft pick.. Love the idea of going with top CB options, but this team has to stop the run . . . I think they should move on from Donatell as well; or at least have him commit to changing the scheme a bit to be more aggressive. A superstud DT will be hard to find with one of last picks in the 1st; an ILB maybe, but that's probably bad value there. I don't think the defense is that far off IMO.
