Broncofan Posted August 22, 2022 Share Posted August 22, 2022 (edited) LT Donovan Smith was their worst OL last year (and at best, IMO he's a limited LT). Now he's their only returning starter. C Luke Hainsey is promising, but being thrown into the fire. G Shaq Mason is decent, so at least that's not a total disaster. RT Wirfs is a monster...but with an oblique strain, it's REALLY iffy to see him make it back for Week 1. And now we have a total rookie likely on the depth chart. And we have TB12's known vulnerability to inside pressure - and a receiving corps that's far from its usual self with Godwin still doing 7-on-7 work and not likely to be full-explosion until 2023 (way it goes - yes you play within 10 months or so, but no you're not the same until 18 mos), and them praying Julio Jones can hold up (Russell Gage is probably way more important to them than ppl realize right now). If there's EVER a time the Cowboys could beat Tampa, this is it (after losing a game they were +4 in TO's, it seems a tall order, especially with Mike McCarthy still there - but man, the matchup is awful Week 1 for the GOAT). I'm assuming this will speed Tom up more, fewer deep developing routes and may have to go back what he was previously used to in a more quick fire attack. We'll see. Ozzy Posted August 22, 2022 Share Posted August 22, 2022 Yikes, he was already the weak link to that OL, so now with Stinnie and Jensen out that could be major problems for a team that wants to really protect the QB and run the ball. Luke Goedeke is promising as a guard so maybe he will do ok but is a rookie, and if Wirfs is out they really do not have a backup tackle honestly that is any good. If Wirfs is out this is the starting OL, tell that to Tom Brady when he was coming back out of retirement, no way he would have returned if he knew this was his OL possibly week 1.
