Week 1 GDT: San Francisco 49ers vs Chicago Bears

J-ALL-DAY

Recommended Posts

Horrible weather, multiple game killing penalties, losing 2 starters (Kittle, Mitchell).

I would have been happy with an ugly win, but the penalties were too much to overcome

If we can clean those up, we'll rebound and play well going forward. Not worried about the season. But what a horrible week 1

yeah, this was bad but anyone wanting to bench Lance over this needs to have their head examined. his legs kept the entire offense alive when they couldn’t block

Agreed. Banks looked really bad and constantly made Trey have to rush the play.

We knew Lance would struggle, especially in these conditions.

What we didn't know is the defense would completely collapse and hang him out to dry vs a team that's going to win 5 games this season.

Jimmy Garoppolo vs Eberflus with Indy last year in the rain : 16 of 27 181 yards 1 TD and 2 INTs

49ers got destroyed 18-30

Lets not act like Jimmy Garoppolo was ever saving the day here

We all know he can run. But he's going to have to be more consistent in the pocket to hold off Jimmy.

he’s not holding off jimmy. He played objectively below average but he did not keep us out of the game.  just wish he could have put the team on his back

Agreed, although I don't know that this was a great barometer for his ability to do that with the weather, and being the first game of the season.
