My two takeaways from this game is these:

1) The Chargers continue to event new ways to lose close games. This loss was in that Everett was gassed and tried to come out but the Chargers raced down the field in a hurry up and Herbert threw the ball and Everett being gassed couldnt react and the defender intercepted it for a 99yd td. As a result the Chargers chances to win went from 73% down to 19%.

The Chargers have to find ways to win these close games. It dont matter if they have a young talented QB. It dont matter if their roster from top to bottom is one of if not the best roster in the NFL. If they cant close they will at best be a quick out in the playoffs. At worst, miss the playoffs completely.

2) If Im being brutally honest, I think Herbert is a young Stafford on a better team. When Stafford was in his 3rd season in Detroit, he at least led them to the playoffs. We have no doubt Stafford has always been an elite talent at the QB position. We just questioned if he could get the job done? He didnt in Detroit and we looked at Detroit as the main reason why Stafford failed. Not completely dismissing Stafford of any blame but it was mainly Detroit organization that was so bad that they failed him. We saw the second Stafford got with an organization that actually knew what they were doing he led them to a Superbowl in year one. With Herbert he has a better team than Stafford ever had in Detroit. He just has to get the job done. He has a losing record and hasnt made the playoffs yet. People can crown him as a top 3-5 QB but I wont. In terms of talent yes but in terms of what he has done for his team he isnt. He can go out there and have amazing stats and jaw dropping throws but the Chargers have to win. He has to overcome the Chargers being the Chargers. Just like we saw Andrew Luck overcome a bad OL for many years and still leading the Colts to the playoffs. Just like we saw Joe Burrow overcome the Bengals bad OL and still putting the team in position to come really within a throw of winning the Superbowl. If AD didnt get to Burrow when he did Chase wouldve walked in for a wide open td to win the Bengals the Superbowl. So Herbert have to overcome the Chargers just being the Chargers and finding ways to lose close games. He has to be the reason the Chargers win these types of games and not blow a 10pt lead in the second half.

So overall thats my take. The Chiefs continue to show that they shouldnt be ignored. Yes I still like the Bills to come out of the AFC but in order for that to happen the Bills are going to legit have to beat the Chiefs. The Chiefs arent going to beat themselves and they will find a way to give themselves chances to win the game. Im really impressed by how the Chiefs offense looks even without Hill. They arent as scary but they still get the job done and thats all that matters.

is this supposed to be a flex or something? This play has been talked about ad nauseum. Gerald Everett literally quit on his route cuz he was gassed. Herbert put the ball exactly where it needed to be.

Herbert tried to be Mahomes, sidearming a pass between two defenders to fit it in. It was an epic fail, trying to pull some fancy stuff with a defender right there waiting

Not really the time to be all “lol Herbert isn’t Mahomes.” The only difference between Herbert and Mahomes last night is that Mahomes had his 100 yard int TD dropped and Herbert didn’t.

Nah, Mahomes actually makes those sidearm passes between defenders. Thats the big difference man😂

Not the only difference. Mahomes had several dropped picks and bad penalties negating picks. He was pretty bad last night.

Seriously. Mahomes got really lucky with penalities and that awful overturned call.

my guy, Justin Herbert slung a pass into a perfect window 30 yards down the field on 4th down with cracked ribs. Please stop pretending like this man isn't as talented as Patrick Mahomes when we just saw Mahomes throw like 5 interceptions only to have them nullified by BS each time.

That was a nice garbage time touchdown.

Good thing this is the NFL and not the N “if” L.

Down 10 in the second half, up 10 with 90 seconds to go, but all we hear is how Herbert was immense? 😂

If the Chiefs were the moaners’ team, they’d be clamouring for attention poured into their QB, not the QB of the losing team.

luckily we are used to this. And so are all fans of AFCW teams not including LAC. We are used to them being crowned moral champions.
