I think I'd take the chance on Lance for that price. If I'm SF I keep him, they saw this year you need a backup....

An additional wrinkle is that Vikings GM Kwesi Adofo-Mensah worked for the 49ers between 2013 and 2019 and knows 49ers GM John Lynch well.

you have to think the 49ers would prefer to trade him out of the NFC though. Las Vegas? NY Jets? Titans?

At that point would you just trade Cousins and go all in on Lance? Otherwise he wouldn't play until after they have to decide on his 5th year

That really depends on if I can trade Kirk, and if I think I can fix the defense. Likely I keep him, and just see what Lance does in practice and the occasional playing time.

Adofo-Mehsah: "A Championship Standard is looking in the mirror, being hard on yourself, being accountable to what happened and finding ways to improve. We do that every day. We're doing that in an ongoing way."

Championship Standard seems to be the new buzzword, O'C said it too....

I don't think Lance has warranted a reputation enough for the 49ers to even bother caring whether he stays in-conference or not.

yeah i dont think that matters. but Kwesi bringing home a Minny born son and vikings fan growing up is intriguing from a PR perspective.

"San Francisco would also be on the hook for $11 million in dead salary cap money if they dealt Lance."

San Fran could afford it, most likely. But is it worth the dead cap and receiving so little in return? Especially since no team now knows the benefit of having a good backup QB more than San Francisco?

if traded after 6/1, it's 5.5mil dead cap hit.
