What's Aaron Rodgers trade value?

There's also a chance that another team gets involved later in the offseason if the Jets wait. Maybe the 49ers if they're not confident in Purdy/Lance.

good point.  once the draft rolls around and teams get a rookie QB, any team left out might be open to moving something for Rodgers

Commanders and 49ers both seem like teams that could get involved later. Especially the Commanders tbh. I could see their new ownership wanting to start things off with a bang.

I think it would most likely take an injury or really unexpected play out of a QB of a contender but it could very well happen. We have seen contenders lose a player to have to pay a premium during or right before the season to stay afloat. Doesn't mean its going to happen but its not necessarily out of the realm of possibility either.

I don't think your delusional but I do think your looking at this from only one point of view. The Jets need Rodgers a hell of a lot more then the Packers need a 3rd round pick. Gutes future will be entirely dictated by Jordan Love. The Rodgers situation simply doesn't matter to the Packers that much outside of ensuring they get value for taking on his contract to play for another team and most likely play like a top 10 QB. The front office of the Packers will only go as far as Love will take them and a 3rd round pick or below isn't going to really move that needle for Gute or the front office.

While simultaneously offloading the contract and with it the option that prevents Rodger's 2023 cap hit from becoming 60 million dollars.

Jets don't want to play 2023 without Rodgers. GB doesn't/can't have Rodgers on the team with a 60 million dollar cap hit, but they also can't keep him and exercise the option themselves because of the cascading guarantees that hit future cap years.

Just Rodgers on 15/32.5 million cap hits for 23/24 is worth #13 by itself. However, GB gets "relief" from the contractby not having on the roster and Rodger's isn't a guarantee to play in 2024; how much of a discount from #13 is all that worth?

You run a billion dollar, public-facing company...do you want to leave this up to the potential that another team may get involved later? And if they don't what is GB's exit strategy outside of hope/faith (exercise the contract and it now impacts future years, don't exercise the option and have a 60 million dollar cap hit on an all-time great backup QB that you wanted to move?)

QB needy teams currently (debate as desired)

CAR, HOU, IND, WAS, ATL.  Potential later options SF, TEN

sneaky teams that have high picks and  could add a QB...  DET, SEA

Draft has 4 possible QB options based on most reports. Assume CAR and HOU take QB, that leaves 2 left.  If DET and /or SEA take a QB, then WAS and ATL would be out and might consider moving something for Rodgers, with WAS being more likely of those 2.

GB can make the trade in August and may very well be forced to settle for less than what they wanted.  JETS also lose out on Rodgers being involved in training camp and that probably is not ideal for a 39 year old QB going to a new team

there are some pseudo deadlines/milestones dates that change the situation for each team and how the assets/cap implications change

  • Draft
    • Jets want to hold that pick 13 to use it as they see best
    • GB may want it to use it as they see best
  • June 1st
    • cap implications for GB in a trade can change if they want
  • various OTA during the off season
    • Jets lose possible time Rodgers being with team for chemistry development
  • training camp
    • Jets lose possible time Rodgers being with team for chemistry development/not having a viable QB besides Wilson
    • GB may have to deal with Rodgers being around and the subsequent circus that might cause
  • Week 1 of regular season
    • GB takes the option bonus on and the implications on the 2024/2025 cap charges
    • Jets not having a viable QB besides Wilson

Right idea, but the real discussion right now between GB and NY is not a discount from pick 13, but what is in addition to it.

I suspect GB is playing hardball on the additional 2024 conditional pick. Probably something like "another first if Jets makes the playoffs this year".

Everything coming out from anyone with a real source sure makes it sound like it's going to be a first this year PLUS. The plus is the hang-up. Likely both the conditions and the pick itself.

This is pure comedy.  13 plus more and maybe multiple 1's.  Maybe we should throw in Sauce too.

That’s gold coming from someone who wants to offer conditional day 3 picks for Rodgers.

Source or speculation? Maybe they got a big lunch

Beat reporters have been waiting for 2.5 hours now for his introductory press conference to begin. No word from the Raiders to explain the delay. Something big has or is happening.

The whole thing is very Raiders. But being back in on Rodgers would be pure speculation at this point.
