“The league’s latest probe into sports betting could implicate a healthy number of guys from across the league”

What are they going to do if everyone does it? Suspend the entire nfl? The Panthers roster should be the first test subjects.

I mean yea...you cant have people betting on games. You could say the same thing about if everyone did PEDs or something else you dont want.

Maybe cancelling the rookie symposium due to “financial constraints” wasn’t a good idea after all. Clearly the NFL is hurting for money.

What exactly is the messaging here? Hey guys, this is so bad that you can lose your career over it, but not bad enough for us to train you about. Hopefully your head coaches will.

And considering that Dan Campbell is probably the one coach you’d think would message that and his players, most of which are very young, are the ones who got busted, maybe the league needs to look themselves in the mirror here and realize they need to be more proactive here.

It should be simple:

1. You cannot gamble on NFL football at all.

2. You can’t gamble on anything else at all from a team facility/event.

3. If you do, you will be caught and your career will be in jeopardy.

You really think the NFL cares about its players?

Even if though they don't, they should still hold the symposium.

Similar to a company giving workplace harassment training, it's the kind of thing that is good to say you did if there is a scandal and Goodell gets dragged before Congress or something.

Found out last year you can speed run the harassment class and say everything is harassment on the test and still pass. Better safe than sorry.

It’s not even about caring about players, it’s that their brand is at stake and they can’t afford to lose money on potential big name players and brands missing time, or teams effectively losing games before they even have the opportunity to play.

Imagine if this was a big time young player or quarterback.

Allegations of corruption, throwing games, or point shaving is something that could legitimately kill the league, and that’s bad for business.

It’s the equivalent of the annual mandatory public school works classes we teachers had to/have to take. 36-40 classes on harassment, slips/trips/falls, acknowledgement on reading the 120+ page handbook (LOL), etc.

It isn’t anything more than a CYA “Hey we trained our employees so that is on them.”
