HC McDaniels and GM Ziegler fired

Ian Rapport just said Davis spent some time talking to many of the veterans asking them about culture and whatnot, and didn't like what he was hearing, and partly from that made his decision.

Good for him!! It's probably the ONLY step we can take to try to retain some of our talent, our owner took the players side.

The fact that Dave Ziegler got fired as well says a lot. HC getting fired mid season see that every year. To let go of your GM mid way through the season speaks volumes imo.

Meh. I always assumed Ziegler was less of a GM and more of an accountant for McDaniels.

@ronjon1990 You called it from the getgo my man, kudos 🍻

Real talk, I don't even want the kudos. It's been a long year and a half or so that I would have much preferred to not be right about.

I love the Raiders. I haven't lived in Raider territory for a long time, and I've always been proud to rock my silver and black gear.

But hiring that snake oil salesman POS was the final straw for me that I simply was not going to bend the knee for until proven wrong. I don't have a daughter, but I'm pretty sure if I did and she came and told me.her new job was to get cracked out of her mind on meth and make sure the trains ran on time, I don't think I would be able to ever approve, regardless of forever loving her.

That was essentially what hiring Josh and Dave was like. It pimped pur beloved franchise out to a couple of greasy 8mn smutt filmmakers to be used as a vanity project.

As exhausting as I'm sure it has been for some reading me absolutely ripping those two morons and any defenders on a near-daily basis, trust me, it was just as exhausting or more for me. I hated every moment of it. And worse? I absolutely rooted for us to lose so we could get rid of their malignancy as soon as possible. Every loss, I smiled a bit. Every win, I cringed. Not because I'm some "fake fan", but because I am a lifelong fan.

I would love to just go back and make it to where they were never hired. I would  have loved to eat crow and be proven wrong. Hell, I wanted it to happen because it would have meant this team was on the right track.

Me and Palooka went at it hard. And today I wake up being able to say "I get it". We're going into week 9 of the season with an interim HC and no hopes of being a contender this year. The white flag has, effectively, been waved on the 2023 season. And we have no idea what's next or what it will look like. It's  a relief, but it isn't particularly fun and won't be until we have the next regime in place- and even that assumes we make a smart hire in the first place.

Yeah, I have no problem saying I was right. I was convinced of that the moment I simply wrote "Gross" in the thread announcing his hire. But best believe I would trade all of that to be 8-0 and rocking the league with a potent offense right now.

I don't honestly expect much in terms of results through the rest of the year. The Good, Bad, Ugly threads are probably still going to be largely bad and ugly. But it will at least be a pleasure knowing that Josh and his minion are gone and the last vestiges of their bull**** "process" are soon to follow. Hopefully the stench of them doesn't linger like smoke on a casino floor too long and we can at least *barf* follow the trajectory of the Broncos once they smartened up and kicked his sorry *** off a mile high cliff.

To those who never gave him an undeserved ounce of support, rejoice. To those who took time to wisen up, welcome back to reality. To those who rejected the reality and defended that prick all the way, Foxborough is waiting for you with open arms, so gtfoh with your bs.

Pretty much this.

People talk about guys like Gruden having too much power, Harbuagh will want too much power, etc.

McDaniels was just as in control as those guys. Ziegler was a glorified scout riding on the coattails of Josh McDaniels.

Interesting.........this is part of the reason I'd probably look to an experienced, hardnosed, leader of men type HC next, a guy like Harbaugh. I mentioned Vrabel too but maybe Levis just saved his job. I think if we get that kind of organisation, culture and accountability the rest could fall into place.

Well, to be fair he was the guy that inked Garoppolo, let Carr go for nothing. Signed Chandler Jones and let Ngakoue go. Neglected our interior Dline, neglected our Oline, signed dozens of RBs and WRs whilst our Defence was on life support. They're both pretty culpable IMO.

Screw that I want my credit too lol. I was talking smack from the minute I heard the Raiders were interested in him .

But one thing I'll always give you respect for was when you called that Ziegler can't draft After he traded the first and second for Davante. That was one of the all-time takes of this forum in my opinion lol.

by the way, I want to take the time to shout out everybody that talks smack to me after the Broncos game and said that I wasn't a real raider fan because I wasn't as happy as everyone else and was evaluating the reality of the situation. I guess we're all evaluating now and will be evaluating for the rest of the season..

Didn’t think MD would do it this early if at all this year so props to him. Don’t have faith in him to chose the right guy but we’ll see!

side note — man this site is almost unusable with the mobile ads. Gone downhill fast.

The mobile ads are so bad

You're not wrong about Harbaugh, but there may be a crucial difference. Gruden wanted that control but he proved he couldn't manage or build a roster when he had that power, McDaniels just proved that after his time in Denver then here. Harbaugh built the 49ers from a train wreck, he went to the Superbowl with Colin Kaepernick and then he went to Michigan and resurrected that college programme from what I've read. So Harbaugh has proven he can build a roster and manage a roster over time.
