BDL Discussion Thread 2024

Yeah, the Nolan trade was rooted in ignorance, and that's no one's fault but my own. (I proposed it, so it's not on Pete.) The Slay trade was laughably bad, but it's a good reminder that 6th round picks aren't made equal in BDL.

There are unsuccessful talks where I look at what was offered and am just kind of surprised, but it is what it is. And, honestly, this isn't a knock on anyone. It's just the way things go with new owners.

Sorry man. I won't have that pick in about a week if it matters at all. .....

Nah, it's certainly not personal. (And that's far from the worst of the offers in the talks.) At least I might be able to (hopefully) use Slay this year.

Nah, no way. I mean, there's certainly a lot to go over, and that's not your responsibility anyway. You gave me a ton of info.

It's just interesting, once you gain a better understanding of things, to see which owners had already jumped on you for wild discounts and horribly unbalanced deals. And, again, I'm not bothered by it. It's actually quite impressive. Just interesting is all.

I think literally everyone makes a “bad” trade or two when they first join. You can’t expect to be an expert evaluator in a league with this unique structure right away

I traded, I think, the equivalent of three first round picks to Pheltz for Darrelle Revis in my 2nd or 3rd year.

Granted, I got a BizzBowl win while he was on my team (and out for the year) and another BizzBowl appearance, but it was still a ridiculously bad trade that I would crucify myself for if I tried to do it again. Not least of all because Darrelle Revis is 38 and retired.
