Bummer that that team didn’t want to trade anything of substantial value for him at the deadline.

Yes, but if that team wants to be stupid now, 49ers fans fully embrace and accept it.

Will be interesting to see what comp picks look like with this salary cap boost.

Suddenly there was 420m to go around in a subpar free agent class. The Lakers signed Timofey Mozgov for 4/64 and Luol Deng at 4/72.. an ancient Joakim Noah got 4/72 from NY. Matthew Dellavedova 4/38.. Kentucky Bazemore 4/70.. the list goes on and on. Point is, will we see the same sort of wackiness this year in the NFL? Most of the best FAs will get tagged- so somebody is bound to give Gabe Davis or Chase Young a stupid deal It's going to depend on how patients teams are. I'm not expecting teams to sit on cash, but if they're more prudent and opt to extend their guys prematurely than there would be less money to spend around.

Wouldn't surprise me if he ended up netting them a 4th round pick in return.

I think that is very possible. 4th or 5th would be likely. How many top tier players make it to the FA market will influence where Young's contract ranks in terms of APY. Soko
Going to be an interesting RB class for FAs. Saquon, Jacobs, Henry, Swift, Pollard, and Ekeler all going to (potentially) find new homes. Then a bunch of other committee guys like Edwards, Dillon, Singletary, CEH. The money probably won’t be crazy, just a lot of names hitting at the same time. Will be fun to see how RB rooms shake out with these guys.
