I can see this being the norm going forward. international game on Friday to open the season. NFL seems really passionate about growing this sport outside of this country AKA make more money. I bet they've been thinking about a game in Saudi Arabia sometime in the near future. The NFL PR people gonna have to earn that paycheck when that day comes

Utterly ridiculous. At least with other international games, the competing teams were given bye weeks afterward. We all know there won't be a bye after Week 1.

I mean they do get an extra day from it being on a Friday night, I guess?

Wait does this replace the normal TNF matchup normally hosted by the defending SB champions?

If you have to do an international game, this seems to be the best way. Get it out of the way early, given 2 travel days afterwards. It does suck to open up the season in front of neutral fans but that is the only downside I see.

I really hope that one extra game on the schedule is a home game. Last year we were one of the unlucky teams to have 9 road games. I don't think the travel is a big deal. I'd rather it get knocked week 1 vs playing a game then having to travel.
