MikeT14
I don't care for any of this.
MWil23
Just put the ball on the 25 and get rid of the kickoff and make it a 4th and 20 from your own 30 if you want to onside kick. Convert it and then you get the ball, otherwise you don’t. A quick whistle makes more sense than yet another judgment call for officials, who, let’s be honest, have shown their lack of ability to execute their job already is at an all time high.

BetterCallSaul
If they do the hip drop tackle ban….oh boy. Tone deaf NFL.
49erurtaza
Can the NFL put out a video on every angle of how each situation players should tackle? Not just one perfect tackle, but exactly how they would like it done in every situation.
ramssuperbowl99
The NFL makes $10B a year and is still too cheap to set up and automated game clock system. But yeah ban those hip drop tackles that's the low hanging fruit here.
elevators_rule
I was watching a game during the regular season with a friend who doesn't watch the NFL. I felt like every play or two I was explaining a new rule. Even little things like offensive/defensive holding, illegal contact, pass interference, illegal touching, rules for when the ball is tipped at the line, the QB being in or out of the pocket- rules that are called all the time and I can easily see why a new fan would have a really difficult time following the game. Adding the hip-drop tackle gives me a headache.

I do not understand how any LB not named Patrick Willis or Ray Lewis is supposed to get around taking a bad angle on sideline pursuit now. Are you choosing between letting the guy go and giving up 15 yards and a 1st? Because based on 30 years of watching football, the appropriate defensive play in that situation is to dive for the runner's hips and hang on for dear life.
Soko
“We are banning the hip drop tackle because we care about player safety” ”No fair catches btw”
PossibleCabbage
I will be sad to see the end of the Fair Catch Kick. Every 7 years or so a team gets to try one.
StatKing
They might as well just put flags on them if they ban this hip drop tackle. It's absolute nonsense and would pretty much eliminate all tackles from behind by smaller players. How the hell else is a 200lb DB supposed to tackle a 250+lb TE without using their body weight as leverage? Garbage rule by a league becoming increasingly garbage.
