Natural Disasters… and living to tell the tale

Recommended Posts

Hurricanes. I live in Illinois though so that's why.

Realistically flooding would be one I could remain potentially unscathed. Live in one of the highest areas in my town with some deep slopes around, and if it actually got to my home we have two boats (one running,  one I'm parting out but still able to float just fine).

I don’t think I’m safe from anything.  Tornados have ripped through along the Chesapeake Bay of serious strength, hurricanes present a problem, we’ve had blizzards and snowmageddon in the past, a derecho took out power for close to a week around the state capital Annapolis……..so maybe an avalanche since we’re flat in this part of the state with no mountains.

I lived in Virginia Beach during snowmageddon... not fun.

My little brother had his school hours get increased to 10 hour days and they did 6 day weeks to make up for all those weeks they were out.

We hoisted a snowblower onto the roof at work.  We were able to melt the first snow off with a hose, had to use the blower to get the rest of it down to the hose to melt it.

I think our schools were in until close to July.
