After this season, they'll need to either cut him loose, sign him to a big extension (risky for a player turning 32), or let him gobble up half of the estimated cap space the Jets were going to enjoy next season (and there's very little incentive for him to restructure his current deal unless part of an extension). A 2nd/3rd may not seem like much, but it kind of is steep for an aging player entering the backloaded portion of his contract.
