It goes both ways Jalen will get away with a lot on Gronk. Let's just hope Gronk does Hulk Up and do the atomic leg drop

Gronk is just uncover-able for an entire game by one person.  As great as Ramsey is, and he is great, he just can't cover Gronk 1v1.  Nobody can.

Quote

The Jaguars own offenses in 11 personnel.  When an offense trots out 1 RB, 1 TE and 3 WRs, the Jaguars pass defense allows a ridiculous 39% success rate, 4.9 YPA and a 73 passer rating.

If an offense aligns more than 3 wide receivers, the story is the same.  As such, when an offense lines up with at least 3 WRs on the field, the Jaguars pass defense holds them to a 39% success rate, 5.0 YPA and a 59 passer rating.  That’s incredible.  It’s the best in the NFL.  These are targets to all players on the field, not just WRs.

However, here is the secret about wide receivers when facing the Jaguars pass defense:  less is more.

When these same offenses lined up in 12, 21, 22 or any grouping with no more than 2 WRs on the field, the Jaguars pass defense allowed a 55% success rate, 9.6 YPA and a 99 passer rating.

So Brady was a DNP...

Broken Hand....

All I saw on NFL.com was that he "jammed" his throwing hand in practice. They didn't say it was broken.

It would be fun to see him go out and win the game left-handed, though. It's about the only thing he hasn't accomplished.

This really isn't any secret to most Jaguars fans. A lot of credit has been given to Bouye and Ramsey, but Aaron Colvin has been pretty good at nickel this season too (read a stat that he's least targeted, of some variety).  When offenses go 3 WR, that usually means Jaguars have Colvin in the line-up. However, when you only have two WRs (either with 2 TEs, or RB/FB), the Jaguars defense normally play their base, which is Telvin at WLB, Poz at MLB, Jack at SLB. Poz is replaced by Colvin on those 3 WR formations, with Jack sliding inside as a nickel LB.

This is why that Jaguar defense really had a tough time vs. the 49ers, because they passed (with Juscheck and Kittle as weapons vs. Poz) on what the Jaguars considered "run downs" with Poz on the field.

Patriots D is a bit better equipped to stop the Jaguars rushing offense with their 4-3 base (or really 4-2-5) with some big tackles inside. Steelers' 3-4 was repeatedly gashed with Dupree and Watt standing up on the edges. Lot of space inside for Fournette, and sometimes he wasn't even touched until he was 4+ yards past the LOS. Patriots also play more man than the Steelers, and Bortles can struggle against man.

Jags could do some damage with play action on early downs. They didn't do that much vs. the Bills but did vs. the Steelers and had some success with it.

I actually think Bortles had tons of success (when he was playing well early Dec) vs man. The Jaguars used a lot of crossers with their speed guys (Lee, Cole, Westbrook), both shallow and deep. They had enough mix-ups of some gos (mostly with Cole), but a lot of the big plays were off deep crossing route types.
