Perhaps they will decide not to go this season and rather than giving them a year off, they are treated as if they just didn't renew their tickets. Yes, most likely people who have waited years for their tickets will probably just purchase them this year and try to sell them for only a slight loss, if they feel unsafe about attending games this season. Or maybe they are 70+ and get naturally selected by Covid and the seats become available anyway. It is not a big deal to me, I am like 9 or 10 hours from GB, and the closest NFL team is the Colts.
