If Garrett saves his job down the stretch here, it's hard for me to imagine Fant would be their guy. If we hired a guy like Riley or DeFilipo, then I'd probably change my tune on that. Hockenson is more along the lines of what this coaching staff wants. But I think I prefer Smith. He is such a talented pass catcher and athlete. A true seam buster we haven't had since Jason Witten's prime years. Great catch radius and body control to make up for any quarterback accuracy issues. Irving and Collins have been prone to missing time, Becker is an insurance policy. Not to mention DL depth is always important. Johnson gives you another deep threat to add to Austin. Although I could also see them trying to solve it with a vet signing like Jared Cook or something. Depending on how many underclassmen declare, it could be a super strong TE class though.
