OFFENSE - 3WR/TE/RB - Single Back Set

Balanced 65:435 pass:run.  Feature Breida out of the backfield.  Wentz will take what the defense gives him, will look to target Landry often to move the chains.  Attack downfield against weak back 7.

DEFENSE - 34 Hybrid Cover 2

Focus on limiting Barkley/Cohen production, Cunningham SPY on Barkley.  Blitz often on Wilson, trust our CBs in man on outside.

Offense

Running game –  Saquon continues his dominance this week. A mistake was made last week with how I described Saquon’s usage, I won’t make the same mistake. Saquon will get 20+ carries this week on the ground, and another 6-10 in the air. Watson will be left on the line to block allowing us to double team Austin Johnson, the weak point on Gothams DL. We’ll feed Saquon early and often in this match-up because we want to challenge the interior line and linebackers. Wilson will also be given the freedom to run this game if he sees an open hole.

Passing game – We’ll start with a base 3 wide, occasionally showing 4 wide looks with Kirk coming on the field to challenge the depth of the Gotham secondary. Barkley will be our workhorse and us consistently attacking the middle should open up Gotham’s secondary to the play action. AB will get plus targets, if he is double teamed we like our secondary receivers in their match-up (Gordon and Diggs vs. Howard and Norman). Specifically Diggs because both Howard and Norman are boundary CBs, leaving them without a true slot WR to cover Diggs. Saquon will be Wilson’s checkdown to challenge the LBs and keep gaining positive yards.

Defense

DL/LB – Our defense this week will be aggressively attacking the interior of the Gotham line which we consider very below average. Buckner and Rankins will collapse the pocket leaving little breathing room for Wentz and Brieda. On Passing downs Ansah will slide inside for Rankings with Frank Clark coming in on the outside to put our best pass rushers on the field. Kyler Fackrell will again start at LB providing occasional A Gap blitzes to keep up the pressure. Roquon will handle clean-up work in the middle of the field.

Secondary – This week we’ll be playing a cover 1 base. DJ Sweainger will man center field and Weddle will drop down into the box and be responsible for either TE coverage or the occasional safety blitz. Our corners will play man defense with Heyward on Thomas, Lattimore on Sanders and Williams on Landry. We view all of these as plus match-ups for the defense.

TL;DR – The offense will flow through Saquon with a very run heavy approach. This will set us up for success in the play action later in the game. The Defense will aggressively attack the interior of the line closing gaps for the run game and taking away any time from Wentz with consistent LB and Safety blitzes.
