Also how is DPJ terrible on paper? He CRUSHED the jumps

DPJ had a good Combine, he's a good athlete with elite explosion. Similar to Davante. You watch him in the drills though with Lamb, Jeudy, Ruggs, even Aiyuk and Reagor and it was easy to me to see why he's not a top 50 guy. He needs some coaching, seems like every athletic guy to come out of UM does...

Says an awful lot about Harbaugh. Perhaps this is why he can't get over the hump over OSU; he's too busy firing up his guys while his staff isn't molding them enough to take that next step.

Harbaugh might have his flaws but coaching is not one of them. Recruiting, he's getting killed. Nowhere near enough athletes to compete with OSU. Can't get a top flight QB either, a position he should know something about and could coach a kid up a bit.

With all the top FA WRs gone (thanks, Nawlins), we can't settle for anything less than an immediate contributor in the draft at WR. A project wideout (3rd-4th rounder) would probably just be repeating last year's mistakes (barring a HUGE jump from Lazard/Kumerow/MVS), which we can't afford to do in the waning years of Rodgers' prime, especially with all the top guys who will be FAs after next year. For all we know, this could be our make-or-break year with all our pending FAs.

Don't discount the Packers trading for a WR on draft day or before. A true #2 is not a rookie.

I don't know how you can say that the coaching is fine. Who was the last big Michigan recruit who didn't disappoint?

Look at his 2017 recruting class (#5 in the country):

DPJ, #1 WR in the country. Hugely dissapointed in college and is a second round prospect pretty much entirely on his measurables and potential.

Aubrey Solomon, #2 DT in the country. Struggled to get any playing time. Transferred to Tennessee.

Caesar Ruiz, #1 OC in the country. About where he should be, probably a day 2 pick.

Luiji Vilain, #5 WDE in the country. Didn't play his first two years and barely played his junior year.

Drew Singleton, #5 OLB. Transferred to Rutgers after not doing anything.

Ambry Thomas, #12 CB. Good player. Not entering the draft this year.

Jordan Anthony, #8 OLB. Hasn't done a thing in his career.

Chuck Filiaga, #13 OT. Hasn't done a thing in his career.

Tarik Black, #15 WR. Terrible offense and QB play held back a talented guy. 323 yards was his best season.

Dylan McCaffrety, #5 QB. Hasn't done anything in his career.

Look at the 2016 class:

Rashan Gary, #1 overall recruit, dissapointed most of his college career

Ben Bredeson, #5 OT, going to be drafted as a mid round Guard.

Nobody else in the top 10 recruits out of that class did anything.

I watched Chase Young on tape for s & g's. No reason that couldn't have been Gary, Chase is not as athletic, he's just extremely well coached. Comparing it to Gary's tape where he doesn't know how to use his hands or anything in regards to counter moves, UM's defensive staff sucks.

When they got Shea Patterson, he had top 5 QB in the draft helium. Two years later... guaranteed UDFA.

Bush from last year. Also, recruiting rankings are not accurate as you know, or should know. They get a lot more wrong than they do right. If you watched Michigan football against top teams you'd plainly see they do not have enough athletes on the field to compete. It is reflected in the number of players that get drafted.

Harbaugh was successful at Stanford. He was successful at San Francisco. He didn't just suddenly forget how to coach.

Dylan McCaffrey is the highest rated QB he's had. He's supposed to be the starter this year, should have been last year. We'll see how he does.

A HC does little for day to day development of his players. That's a position coach and coordinators more often than not.

Michigan gets athletes, Gary might be the best 280+ athlete in the history of football. Michigan didn't do a damn thing with him. Wisconsin gets 3* kids like Taylor and Watt's and their S&C programs turn them into studs. The entire Michigan program is lackluster.
