What Happened To Him?

Sammie Coates

First 5 week in the 2016 season, Coates had like over 450 yards with so many big play and after he had a hand injury and it was over from that moment on for him.

I do not even know if Coates has a job right now, he has been in Cleveland, Houston and maybe KC, but Coates has not stayed long with his teams and now he's looking for a job just to be in a 90 man roster....

 Browns legend.

Also Dannell Ellerbee. He was a beast for the Ravens and then was a piece of dook after that.

He played fine for the Saints but got hurt every 3rd or 4th snap. ALWAYS HURT.

He was probably the most underrated player on our defense though, it was noticeable when he wasn't in the lineup.

My first person is WR Stevie Johnson from the Bills. He was really good for 3 years and then just disappeared, what happened?

He was well-respected around the league, but he was outside of the Bills' price range. His receiving percentage and efficiency numbers for the most part quietly went down every year until the disaster that is EJ Manuel was drafted in 2013 and Stevie only caught like 50 passes on 100+ targets or something like that. It was a disaster. And he got hurt. Only played in like 12 games. After that, he was out of Buffalo. Highly productive receiver, ending up with a terrible QB in an awful offense? Doesn't live up to expectations? Statheads point out that he's getting less efficient? Got hurt? That's a recipe for a quick exit.

He was out of Buffalo after the season, landed with the 9ers, but was never fully integrated with the offense. He didn't crack the starting lineup but still had a really solid season for someone who only started one game. He caught almost all of his targets and had 8.7 yards per target - really efficient. This boosted his value again, and he landed with the Chargers in 2015. He was alright as the second receiver while Keenan Allen had a fantastic season as a breakout player. Allen was leading the league in a lot of receiving categories until a gruesome season-ending injury. Johnson did okay for a couple games, but then he, too, had a terrible season-ending injury, too.

Is there anybody that you remember for being a good player that suddenly disappeared off the map or was more of a flash in a pan that never resurfaced anywhere? For these players I wanted to find honest answers as to what caused their downfall.

He help the Steelers in 2010

Anyone remember Brandon Boykin?

Yes, only because he has been with the Steelers one season and for no reason, Tomlin played Antwon Blake over Boykin in the 2015, even if Blake was atrocious.

Boykin has not played in the NFL since, probably because of an injury, but when he was on the field he was a good player.

One that springs to mind for the Colts is Dallas Clark.

Had an absolute amazing career in Indy with Peyton. Then he left and sort of did nothing for a while before retiring. Awesome TE for a few seasons though.

Another one is Josh Cribbs. Once touted as one  of the top returners ever with Devin Hester. He just sort of disappeared.

Cribbs just got old. He was a specialist in Cleveland for many years and every year they tried to develop him more as a WR but he was never good enough at it. They let him go to the Raiders and he just sort of fizzled out with age and retired.

Kendall Wright comes to mind - going into that draft, I was arguing with a few Texans fans/Baylor alumni on who was the better player between Wright and Alshon Jeffrey. I heard a bunch of junk about how Wright was the 1st round pick, so he'd OBVIOUSLY be better, but...I think we can unequivocally state that Jeffrey had/has the better career.

Wright never really took off as a good player, just no sort of fit in the league - a quicker than fast sort of guy who wasn't really quick or fast by NFL standards.

I was actually thinking about Kendall Wright as well for this thats a good one.

Would RB Deshaun Foster and Stephen Davis qualify for this as well?

Cribbs ran high through contact, got blasted every game, injuries caught up to him.

Wright is a good one, I think. I loved him coming out, and his rookie season, he looked legit.

Secondarily, I know it was partially injury related (and partially Arian Foster related), but I think that Steve Slaton could be included in this type of group as well. That first year, he was completely amazing.

Not sure if this was ever confirmed, but the rumor was one of his legs was longer than the other, which put a ton of stress on his hip.  He had a couple nice seasons in Philly before Pitt.

Bryce Brown looked really good from a pure running stand point his first two years but never caught on anywhere.  His brother Arthur Brown, who I thought would be a very good lb, never saw much action.
