Seattle drafted him, paid him, marketed his name, and surround him with some Hall of Fame players and other studs. He helped them win a Super Bowl to be sure but he was not THE GUY. (Wilson was and Sherman was and lots of others like Wagner and Bennett and Chancellor were as important) He negotiated a legally binding contract man to man with the Seahawks reps and then he cried and bailed on the last year. They told him he was within his rights to do that but they were not giving him a new contract. He pouted but came back after denial of service and missed paychecks. Earl got hurt like all NFL players risk injury and he acted like a scumbag while injured on the field.
