Bears to trade 4th Round Pick to Jaguars for Nick Foles

Legitimately sick for us to take on this ******* bum and his ridiculous contract (no matter how we restructure it) and LOSING draft pick compensation to do so.

This is what happens when you allow yourself to get painted into a corner.  Once the word on our attempt to get Bridgewater got out the entire planet knew we were desperate to find a vet QB so the price for anyone who could be a fit went up.  I'll be interested to see what kind of deal they worked out as far as Foles contract goes.

Like I said before it could be worse.  The best of it is Foles knows how to operate the offense and has had previous success with it in Philly so as far as competition goes both he and Mitch should be on fairly equal footing.  I would have preferred Dalton but with the league shut down for who knows how long having a vet who knows the offense well enough to run it from day one makes sense.

To be fair he got hurt week 1, didn't come back until week 11 and didn't play well.

My worry is that “didn’t play well” was the vast majority of his career. He’s a guy who multiple times now has been acquired to be the u questioned starter and in each instance was unable to hold the job for even one complete season.

He played very well as full time starter for Chip Kelly with a bad team.  They were a top 5 offense.

I think what this is really telling us is that the Bears huddled up in the offense and agreed  Mitch is a central reason for this offense failing. They all agreed they had to do something to get competent QB play regardless of the cost. That is pretty telling of what will happen to Mitch this season.

Nick Foles sucks, dude. Come on. Is he worse than Trubisky? No. Is he significantly better? No.

Aren't you sick of winning 16-13 six or seven times a year? I am. I'm sick of "well all ______ has to do is not lose the game and they'll be fine!" It's sickening.

That was SEVEN YEARS AGO.

The guy had a magical run a few years ago. Besides that he's been bad. I wish people would get it

I actually don't mind this move at all. Mitch needed competition, and Foles has at least demonstrated at times in his career to play at a high enough level to get it done.

What will be funny, is when we still draft Anthony Gordon, and he, like Minshew, ends up beating Foles out.

Also, I'm going to be astonished if one of our first two picks isn't OL (and hell, maybe even three of our total picks) this draft has a ton of OL to choose from and it's the only area we haven't addressed.

Pat Mahomes and an all pro O tackle in FA wasn't on the table.

He has been mostly a back up.

We were talking when he was a full time starter from get go.

Here's how I would approach an analysis of Nick Foles.  Look at his record and his stats playing in Philly and his one year in KC where he was playing in offenses similar to what the Bears are running now.

Nick foles ended the Iowa Hawkeyes undefeated season when i was a freshman in college.  I’m still salty, screw him.

This move is OK. If all things fails just draft a QB in the 1st round of 2021 draft and sit him while Foles plays. We needed a serviceable QB in the meantime.
