The QB Thread: Everything Carr, Stidham and beyond...

I still feel the same way about Carr as I have all along. Not sure why we are even discussing this again.

Only possible thing I can add at this point is that Gruden and Mayock felt the same way I did about our WR Corp. They, like me, knew it was trash and did something about it. So anyone who was claiming Carr had what he needed last year, well I hope your eyes are opened now.

For the future, none of that matters if Carr doesn't perform. He has to play well and we have to win enough to get to the playoffs at a minimum. Otherwise everyone will be calling for his head.

One question for you @BayRaider and anyone else who continues to address Biwden as WR... why despite all the evidence do you refuse to call him a RB?

Because he projects perfectly as a Slot WR. I'm not making a bold claim on that one. His skill-set + tape screams dominant slot wideout, love him there. Plus go read any scouting report you can possibly find, it's probably gonna be projected Slot WR. Yes, I'm quite aware of what Mayock said.... and I'm sure they are going to test him out there. I just think he'll eventually be way better suited for a slot role with his skill-set. Obviously, this is all opinion.

I absolutely love him in Shotgun 2 RB sets though. Scary to think about.

Ok I don't disagree with your evaluation of him. But I am just not as arrogant as you. When they turn the pick in as a RB. Goddell announces as a RB. Mayock corrects reporters that call him A WR at both press conferences since the pick that he is a RB. Then outlines the role he envisions for him as a RB that expands his role if he can handle the RB portion. Then when asked about adressing the WR corps he talks only about Ruggs, Agholor and Edwards.

You think Bowden is taking a significant amount of snaps from Renefrow in the slot? No way. Bowden will play a Taysom Hill like roll. He will take 12-15 snaps a game at QB, RB or WR and returning punts and maybe kicks.

Tyrell will start at X. Ruggs will start at Z. Renefrow is our SWR. Bowden will get some snaps at slot no doubt but they will part of a special package for him.

I don’t see how I’m arrogant, everything I’ve stated is opinion. Tons of fans in the Bowden thread are also projecting him as a slot, which is where this discussion should be taking place. Not even sure why you brought the discussion to the QB Thread to begin with. Yes, we all know how Mike/Jon plan use to him in 2020. I see him eventually settling in a majority slot role 2021-2023.

Carr for Rodgers?!

Rodgers 36 (how many years does he have left?) (Hall of Famer, Super Bowl winner)

Carr  30 (when season starts) (below average to average QB that has had mostly trash receivers to work with)

Damn that's a good question. Gruden would do it. Me, I just don't know.

Would be impossible this season to do it, 51 million cap hit for the Packers. Next Season is possible

Back to the QB Thread,

Carr/Mariota have been discussed but it looks like Peterman is our QB3 this year. I always thought he was a way better option than Glennon last year and he looked phenomenal in Training Camp and Pre Season. Was a big fan of Peterman coming out of college

Obviously I hope Peterman never starts, but I am curious how he would look in a regular season game with the Raiders and Gruden, and if he has overcome his mental issues from the Bills.

Whilst I agree he probably moving forward was a better option than Glennon, I didn't see anything phenomenal about him in pre season, he looked to me like a QB with no confidence who was schemed into easy low risk throws, nothing spectacular, limiting turnovers and having the odd nice scamper. Looked to me like the coaches trying to ease him back in gently and I don't recall (though I may have forgotten or misremembered) any great specific throws or QB play in particular.

Why do you think he was so good, not just good but phenomenal? What am I missing here and does anyone else see this?

Why would they want Carr when they have Jordan Love waiting? They probably plan on keeping Aaron for 2 years, or even 3 years if he does well. Same thing with Favre/Rodgers.

At that point Rodgers is 39 and either retires or searches for a 2 year contract like Brady.

I would hope by that point our QB situation is already solved.

dc speaks

“I also love when people say that we only throw checkdowns to Jalen Richard,” Carr said. “But those are called plays for Jalen Richard. You know?! These are plays where we are only running routes to get him the ball. Our yards per attempt and completion are super high and they are only going to get higher and grow higher as we’re adding speed and versatility on our offense. It’s only gonna get better.”

🤔 really lol so the wrs are just decoys?

I want no Excuses from the Carr bandwagon with the season. No playoffs with an extra slot, GET LOST and bring in another player.

What is the Carr bandwagon? Just because we don't agree with your shallow criticisms, doesn't make us part of a "bandwagon".

Ugh it pains me to agree with @BayRaider but I don’t buy Bowden as a full time RB, despite the comments made initially.

I also see him lining up in 2 RB sets and going in motion, sometimes settling into the slot snap.  He’s going to be a weapon who lines up at RB and WR pretty close to equally.  He will not be the 100-120 rushes RB that a typical RB2.

it really is an interesting situation.  We have Richard (3rd down receiving back specialist) and Jacobs (who is a very good receiving back and who should be getting way more PT there this year) and then added Bowden... we have 3 very good receiving RBs and no rushing option besides Jacobs.... sure Bowden and Richard would get some rushed but prolly not over 50ish.

Smh what can you even say to some people at this point....

No one loves Carr! The only “Carr bandwagon” argument that was made was I think he’s the best option at this point for ‘20, show me a better option for the team and we’ll kindling kick him to the curb ourselves.
