El oh El.

We gotta take this seriously.  It's Gruden we're talking about.  I mean he's literally in love with every single one of them.  Deep, deep love.  Endless love.  1980 romance movies type love.  If he gets a chance to trade up and draft 2-3 QBs in the first he'll do it.  Even if he has to trade away our entire team and his son who was our strength and conditioning coach.

Ooof I hope for our sake you're wrong, but I know you aren't.  What a disappointment it's going to be if we pass on one of the top prospects just because they opted out.

I think I'm gona go to a friends house for the draft, so that I dont throw the phone at MY tv out of frustration Haha.

Oof is right

Quote

I wrote last week that I didn’t think the Raiders would touch any opt-outs in the first three rounds, since these players may not love ball as much as Jon Gruden and Mayock do, plus a couple of other reasons. And Mayock acknowledged that it is indeed a hot topic.

Quote

“Do I think some of them may have used it as an excuse to get out of football and go train?” Mayock said. “Sure. But at the end of the day, it’s really hard to figure out which ones, and that’s why you have to really just continue to drill down the kid, what his playing demeanor is, what his coaches think about him, all of your different sources.

“Because it’s really a can of worms and I think every team will look at those opt-outs a little differently.”

Thinking a kid "doesn't love ball" because he'd rather prolong his career by not risking injury in a truncated season or not risk covid is truly a dumb way to look at it.

Meh, I think most teams in the league would take the Top 4 QBs in this draft, unless they already had a Mahomes, Wilson, or a recent 1st Round QB. With the exception of Atlanta, think they are definitely going Pitts.

With that said, Fields/Lance won’t get past pick 7.

I can see Fields slipping. There is always one and I could see teams letting him slide to 9 where Denver will have to make a choice.

I hear your sarcasm.  lol...

I honestly feel the Raider are just doing their due diligence at this point on prospects, trades, and free agents.  Not once has Grudock waivered.  Yet every time someone becomes available the media points at us due to Grudens love of the QB position and everyone that has ever played the position.  I honestly believe its media made and we are (barring something drastic) set and comfortable with the player Carr has become.

Yeah I don’t think Denver would pass on Fields if he was there, possible Franchise QB when your current QB is Drew Lock. Although I don’t think Denver is trading up, think they are perfectly fine standing pat, taking a defensive player like Parsons or Surtain, and drafting a QB in the 3rd Round like Mond or Mills to compete with Lock.

It's strange, normally I am super into all the prospects by now. Years past I'd have a clear of who I want and who I do not want. I'd have watched hours and hours of highlights of potential Raiders and everything.

But for some reason I am kindof just meh. Don't get me wrong I'll watch every single second of all 7 rounds and be obsessed doing research on all the new Raiders once picked, but I just am not as invested this year prior to the draft for some reason. Maybe a lower pick than usual, maybe I really don't have a clue which direction we'll go, etc, etc.

I feel you. Besides Live College Games, I didn’t start digging in until around Late March this year. When usually January to April, it’s like my main spare time hobby because I find it really fun. I think it’s a combination of a lot of things: Been really busy compared to last year and just barely got free time in the month of April, we are picking later than usual, meh draft class, and I don’t trust Gruden. Mostly busy.

Except those "safe, hard working players" suck and thus you have no base.

And you can't change culture with a guy like Gruden who is impatient and constantly turning over the roster. He's on rebuild 2 in 4 years as the coach.

They don't suck they were over drafted and injured.

I think we are all on the same page here.  I personally think it's because the Raiders over the last 5 years have never gone with the player we all believed would be the pick.  We all know they're going to pick a player that should have been drafted later.  Ruggs, Arnette, Ferrell, many more examples can be provided.  We will probably pick a player (The great Tevin Jenkins), that would not have been drafted for another 10 picks if it had not been for us.  So it's demoralizing to do our research when we clearly have no idea what's going on.  We drafted Ruggs when we could've had Jefferson or CD Lamb.  It sucks.  That's why I'm not really getting too deep into it this offseason.  I just like Tevin Jenkins because he escorts DEs out of the club.

If we do skip out on RT at 17 (which I’d be fine with if a defensive stud like Parsons, Farley, or Surtain are on the board), the Tackles to choose from at 48 are way thinner than people think. The fanbase always does this.. “the class is deep at this position, wait until the next round!”

Cosmi, Jenkins will probably be gone in the first. Leatherwood is gone before 48. I wouldn’t be shocked if James Hudson is gone before 48 who should go earlier than people expect.

OT’s still available: Stone Forsythe, Brady Christianson, Jalen Mayfield, Jackson Carman, Walker Little.

Personally, I think Mayfield, Carman, and Brady are all guards and belong in the 3rd. Forsythe is a Right Tackle in the NFL, but he’s definitely not a day one starter, and there’s a pretty good chance he’ll be subpar at the next level. However, I do think he’s worth a gamble at 48 (if anyone thinks he’s sniffing 79, you’re high).

Walker Little is another guy who will be an OT in the NFL but he hasn’t played in two years, and needs a lot of development as well.

Same and this will be the first year I don't watch the draft. I always set aside the time, this year I'm traveling because I have no interest.

Gruden has ruined the experience for me. I know without a doubt that whatever they do will be head scratching. Something out of left field that will be made fun of in the moment. This team has really lost my interest in recent years.

Does anyone seriously look at this team and feel like they have a plan? There is no direction. It's year 4 and we're and nothing is clear as to what they are trying to do.
