Saw something interesting. Rivera has never drafted an o-lineman in the 1st round with 9 picks. He's done it three times in the 2nd.

Very interesting - well that makes me feel a little more confident that he won't reach for an OT, but if any of the top 3 slide I hope he would at least take a look, even if he values them a little lower.

The Fields drama ("you don't draft Ohio State QBs") is starting to feel a bit like "you don't draft Jeff Tedford-coached QBs" in the late 90s and early 2000s. They never panned out ... and as a result one of them fell from being a top 2 QB to Green Bay at 24.

I think you can call it a Haskins thing with some of the reports out there and not because "Ohio State QBs". There are reasons why Fields is dropping to the #5 QB outside of that.

I bet most teams have a similar draft hit rate. We all sit here and act like we should hit with every pick and so many other teams do, but when you go to other forums it’s not too different than ours arguing over past picks that didn’t work out etc, etc. The only forums which I feel are totally different than ours are the ones where they’ve found their franchise QB and every year they’re in the playoffs but even those franchises have a lot of misses in the draft.

I mean look at the Patriots lately a lot of their most recent drafts are awful.

The main reason this franchise stays in mediocrity is because we can never fix the QB issue & when we did at least have a good starter at QB for a few years our D & run game we’re two of the worst in the NFL so it didn’t matter that we had a QB who consistently played like a top 15 QB and sometimes top 10 because the D & run game were awful. So, we just stayed mediocre then too.

Now if we had a good starter to go along with out run game and D I really feel we could have a team that might not be a Super Bowl contender but, most would feel in a playoff contender every year w/ an outside chance of going all the way. But now we don’t have a QB again, so here we are! Mediocrity

I don’t consider Preston Smith & Trent Murphy failures. They were good but not great players for us. And yes, they’ve been replaced but we sure as hell had to spend high draft picks to do it.

The only reason they aren’t our starting DEs right now is because of the big contracts they got offered by other franchises & we had already paid Ryan Kerrigan a huge contract.
