He’s better than this but his confidence is shot. You almost need to refresh him because he’s just not what he is supposed to be. It’s bad enough right now to make a temporary decision.

Who knows what happened, but he’s clearly broken right now. Just an awful QB, can’t do anything well, and of course that is only compounded by entire offense and coaching being a train wreck. You can’t give up on him ($$), so you don’t. You trust his prior track record and physical tools and prioritize fixing him for 2021.

In the meantime, just start Hurts next week. If he’s just as bad or worse, go back to Wentz, if he’s better, then it will be a bit more clear who/what the offense’s problems are long term. Maybe Hurts will light it up and it will become clear Wentz has been holding team back? Maybe his mobility will nullify the poor OL play, and we’ll see the WRs aren’t that bad just haven’t had enough time?... and so on. Only downside is rattling Hurts’ confidence if he’s not ready and thrust into bad situation, but from Eagles POV that is a risk we can take. Hurts is not some prized prospect we need to bring along carefully, he’s a 2nd round reach. If he works out, great.

Hebert almost has Wentz's 2017 stats you say?

The average passer rating in 2017 was 86.9

  • Wentz's 2017 season was 13 games. He was the clear frontrunner for MVP.
  • Wentz was 4th in passer rating and just 2.8 points away from 1st place.
  • He led his team to 30+ in 8 of 13 starts.
  • He had his team up 10-20 points in the 4th in many games so he handed off or sat late in those games.

The average passer rating in 2020 is 93.5

  • Hebert is not in the top 200 of the MVP race. (losers who are 2-8 get no MVP consideration)
  • Hebert is 11th in passer rating and 16.5 points behind first place.
  • He led his team to 30+ in 4 games out of 10.
  • Hebert is a horrific 2-8 as a QB. He is throwing down the field on every drive because his team is trailing so often.

Compare a good-stats loser rookie to a league MVP level season more often. It really makes you look so smart.

He’s got some questions as a passer but he’s also a great athlete and has the ability to run. We’re not asking him to be a franchise guy but a positive contributor. There are viable skeptics about how long Hurts can last but you have to at least put some treads on his tire.

Why are we comparing Wentz to Herbert? Did I miss something?
