2021 Franchise Tag Decisions

If the Mods want separate threads no worries.   But figured every decision may not need a separate thread.

Given the tag amount for S is less than recent extensions AAV, no surprise for Justin Simmons & Denver.  Sounds like Taylor Moton and Carolina headed that way too.

@BroncofanWhy didn't broncos look to extend Simmons long term? I mean $11.4 mil last year and will make 110% this year putting his 2 year guarantees at $23.9 mil. That is top 5 guaranteed money for a safety. Are they looking to get a long term deal done or is this just a potential sign and trade move? Simmons say whether or not he will look to sit out if tagged?

They are working on an extension.  This just gives more time.  It would be shocking if it didn’t happen given how close the tag and extension numbers are at.

Just important to note because Dallas can't technically afford to franchise Dak at the current point in time.

People need to understand that football is a business.

Jerrah is out to make money and so is Dak.

He had the chance to give Dak a Wentz/Goff + a few million deal and he decided to give Dak all the leverage instead.

Now Dak can play on the tag and he is free next year or they must hold a 54.25 million dollar hole in their cap for Dak at the start of next league year in 2022.

Now price gouger Jerruh gets to be gouged by Dak or he hands him 37.7 and then lets him walk.

This is not really Dak being selfish. Its him and his agent playing money chess and his opponent made a very bad move last turn.

Or Dallas does not really want Dak and paying him 37.7 this year would be lunacy.

Cousins and Dan Snyder played this game a few years back.
