Hopefully it’s nothing and it’s all precautionary. Maybe it’ll be like Beta and Gamma instead of Delta.

After Israel and Hong Kong, an infection has now also been confirmed in Belgium. It concerns an unvaccinated traveler who returned from Egypt on November 11, and developed mild symptoms 11 days later. "The woman was not vaccinated and in perfect health when she left," says Piet Maes, virologist at the Leuven Rega Institute. Eleven days after her return trip, she developed mild symptoms. The woman had herself tested that same day - Monday - in the federal test platform in Leuven, Friday the result came out: the first case of B.1.1.529. “Whether eleven days is not long in terms of incubation time? In this case, we cannot rule out that that infection happened in our country.”

It's likely everywhere at this point or will be very soon. Hopefully this variant doesn't end up being more contagious and/or deadly.
