vike daddy
The NFL remains highly optimistic that the 2020 season will happen. Less optimism exists that fans will be present for any of the games, however. The temptation to swing the doors open and allow risks to be assumed and reduce capacity where needed with staggered arrivals and departures quite possibly will yield to political and public-health considerations that could make it more prudent to pass on playing with fans. While the losses arising from a season without fans would be significant, they would not be staggering. The bulk of the NFL’s money comes from televising games, and this year the games as televised likely would generate higher ratings than ever before. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2020/06/20/nfl-remains-highly-optimistic-that-season-will-happen-less-optimistic-fans-will-be-in-stands/ Edited June 20, 2020 by vike daddy
Purplexing
Empty outdoor stadiums would lose less money than empty domes. Regardless of structure, empty stadiums are a perfect metaphor for several things.
vike daddy
The Patriots have agreed to terms with quarterback Cam Newton, the story was first reported by ESPN. Newton has a 2-0 record against the Patriots during his time with the Panthers. The first overall pick in the 2011 draft. It’s a low salary, one-year deal with plenty of incentives. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2020/06/28/patriots-sign-cam-newton/

CriminalMind
So NE walks into 2020 season still with a better when healthy QB than Minny, while paying 1/3 the amount. bravo

And better???? How can you say that 3600 plus yards, 26 TD’s to 6 INT’s in run heavy offense with your number 1 WR missing 10 games and only playing 15 games behind a below average O-line isn’t great numbers??? Here is a stat that might help: ( TD to INT) J. Goff- 22-16 M. Ryan- 26- 14 T. Brady- 24- 8 C. Wentz- 27- 7 All 4 make around what Cousins does. All 4 attempted over 600 passes last year. Cousins attempted 444 passes???? Even throwing 150 plus attempts less, he had Better numbers then all these guys! So I ask, what the He$$ is wrong with having Cousins as our QB?? No reason at all not to be happy with our QB.... Edited June 29, 2020 by Vikes22

SteelKing728
So Newton did accept a job where he'll likely have to compete for the starting job. If he were to lose the starting job, he'd be a backup for the first time since backing up Tebow at Florida. https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/29380463/qb-cam-newton-reaches-1-year-deal-patriots-sources-say Supposedly, teams are still talking to Kaepernick and/or people close to him (who knows if its true though?). I'm not sure how many teams out there that would give him a legitimate chance to compete for the starting gig, like Newton just got. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2020/06/28/report-teams-are-talking-to-friends-and-associates-of-colin-kaepernick/
swede700
Oh, I don't believe there'd be a team at all that would give Kaep a shot at starter, but he'd basically be guaranteed to be the backup and then would have a shot at starting somewhere in 2021-22. I can't imagine he'd be ok backing up Stidham. As for Kaepernick I don't think anything has changed. He still just wants a shot at making a roster. Exactly. 22 TDs / 15 INTs and a sub 60% completion rate. That’s what Newton will give you in the passing game. Outside of 2015, that’s what he gave Carolina.
