they have potential but in reality Baltimore's secondary has proven time and time again to be the best. I don't think games against the Giants and Jaguars really tell us much about Denver's defense, or secondary.

Rams secondary was better than Baltimore's last year and are probably better this year too.

Ravens have already lost 3 CBs to injury to start the season. So it's odd that you're less confident about how they stack up this year compared to last.

Well obviously ours are better with the injuries.

But we also lost one of the best safeties in the league and our third CB who was pretty good last year, so coming into the season I'd have been less confident - although with Ramsey I'd still have taken the Rams.

Is a rotation of Chark, Shenault, Jones Jr, Robinson, Hyde that bad? Like is that even bottom 5?

As an entire receiving group for Lawrence to work with? Yeah, I'd say they're about that low.

They have probably a bottom 8-10 group of WRs, no one who can compete for the true title of a #1, the worst receiving TE room in the league, and not really much of anything for pass catchers as RBs. There was room to grow with Shenault and Chark's youth, and with ETN as a pass catcher, but I think people were overly bullish on our WRs in general. Shenault isn't getting separation or doing anything with his touches, and Chark is having separation issues and some big costly drops, and of course ETN is out for the year.

There's room to be hopeful with the group and I could see them turning it on, and as Tyron Johnson gets more acquainted with the offense, hopefully he can make some big plays as well. But this season was always going to be one where you evaluate the young receivers alongside the future franchise at the position and then make decisions on upgrades. And so far, they're looking to be about what the low end of what expectations had been.

I was so high on Chark and Shenault coming into this year.

You weren’t alone.

I think both of them have benefitted at some level from being the only two rosterable players on some of these previous Jaguars teams. The ball has to go somewhere, and it’s going to go to the guy who is the best of the bunch even if he isn’t very good at all. Fans see that and often assume that better QB play will allow that receiver to flourish, but a lot of times they just don’t and you get what we’re seeing right now with the Jaguars group.

The Jaguars have had a long history of these types, and while it’s not a certainty that they will end up looking like Mike Sims Walker, Mike Thomas, Reggie Williams, Matt Jones, Cecil Shorts, Keelan Cole, Marqise Lee, Dede Westbrook, Chris Conley, etc. come the end of the year, I don’t think a single Jaguars fan would tell you it isn’t a very real possibility.

I hope they’re the real deal what others seem to think they are, but they haven’t done anything to convince me they are.
