I believed this for about ten minutes, then realized this is Dave Dombrowski posturing with Scott Boras. The Red Sox aren't trading for Manny Machado. It's just not happening. If Peter Angelos doesn't want to trade Machado to the Yankees, why would he agree to trade him to Boston? Machado to Boston isn't happening, as fun as that would be.

The Red Sox and Scott Boras are having a staring contest over J.D. Martinez. I'm sure the Red Sox leaked this to Morosi so they can create the image that signing Martinez isn't the Red Sox's only option for acquiring a power bat this offseason. Hopefully this kick-starts contract talks with Martinez. I bet he's signed within ten days.

Yeah, it's been unusually slow thus far. Hoping January brings some movement with it. Also we get the Hall of Fame announcement this month as well:

Edgar looking really good for induction so far. Happy for him if that is the case. Bonds and Clemens a little shy of induction right now, could move up. If they keep hovering around 70% through the rest of the balloting, however, I don't think that there's any doubt that they are getting inducted over the next few years.

there is a report out that jd Martinez has received a five-year offer from the Red Sox

Eric Hosmer has a seven-year offer from the Padres.

At least all of the rumblings I have read/heard have had the Royals offering 6 years and either 90 or 100 milliion. So that would be the pedestal for Hosmer
