At this point there is no “better” option. You just live with the growing pains of a young, inexperienced player. Whether it’s Udoh or Davis, there’s going to be hiccups along the way.

I tend to agree.  Just let Udoh ride out the season to see if he can get better and then reassess it at that point.  All I'm concerned about at this point is hopefully to no longer have to throw high picks at an OL just because you think it's a clear need.  While they haven't been ideal, they've managed to get by, for the most part, with Bradbury and Udoh...now, if the best player on the board fills one of those positions, feel free to do it, but don't go chasing after it, like they did with Bradbury.  It's basically what Studwell had said during his conversation with Leber on his podcast...that's the biggest mistakes he said the organization did in the draft when he was there...when they've drafted for need over the BPA (obviously, Ponder was example 1A).

Bradbury went about where projected. Calling him some chase is an exaggeration. He's just not worked out for whatever reason.

I think we stick with Cole with Bradbury as the main backup. Unless there are injuries, Wyatt Davis likely doesn't play this year. I'd imagine they'd move Bradbury, Brandel or Hill to RG first before they do it for Davis.

Bradbury isn’t a guard. Just don’t think he can anchor well enough, especially at RG. He’s a backup Center at this point with starting upside.

He went about where he was projected because of the dire need of the team, not necessarily if it had been a truly objective evaluation, so he was an easy pick for mock experts to make.  However, it isn't generally likely that teams take centers in the top 20.  It's been more of a recent phenomenon, as it's happened 4 times since 2015 (including Bradbury) and the results have been mixed at best, but prior to that, it had only happened twice in the previous 20 years.

The Vikings are 2-0 this season without Dalvin Cook. Including the first game against Detroit.

In 10 games without Cook, Kirk Cousins and the Vikings are 6-4. Cousins average stat line over those 10 games is 27 of 38, for 290 yards and 2 touchdowns with 1 interception.

The team averages 29 points per game in their 6 wins, and averages 15 points per game in their 4 losses.

Bradbury's most valuable skill at draft time was his athletic ability (initial startoff quickness and acceleration speed, and ability to get out into the blocking pattern on sweeps and other downfield blocking plays).  His low weight, smaller bulk, and upper body strength, leading to weaker anchoring (especially in pass blocking), was less of a problem in the college game (probably especially given his own team's emphasis on the run game).  So, he graded higher overall than he would have in The NFL.  Also, The NFL has more mature athletes playing DL, who have higher weight totals and more muscle mass, and run faster on average, because they are the cream of the crop of ex-college athletes, so a better anchor technique and more weight/bulk and muscle mass is required in The NFL, to be adequate to keep them away from the QB in The NFL.

The Vikings, stressing the running game, and downfield blocking schemes valued body structures/configurations, and player traits and skills that would maximise those players' effectiveness in the downfield blocking schemes, to the detriment of their ability to anchor and impede opposing DT rushers from pushing their way towards their team's QB.  Making that choice for a one-sided run-blocking specialist, rather than a well-rounded, heavy and strong enough center with a solid anchor, who would be less quick to get out in downfield blocking schemes, but still adequate in that skill, was a fatal error, given the increased athletic abilities of today's DTs above those of 10-20 years ago.

Zimmer's trying to play 1990s football, and trying to draft players for THAT game, and having to draft for need, instead of BPA, has caused the recent lack of young talent in key positions for The Vikings.  I'm all for not only getting rid of Zimmer after this season ends, but getting rid of Spielman, too.  A team needs a GM and a head coach who work well together, and have the same vision for how their team will need to play on BOTH sides of the ball, is necessary to have sustained runs of winning seasons.  The Vikings also need supporting coaches who teach players technique and their system.  They haven't had effective development of offensive players since Zimmer took over.  And their recent development of defensive players has fallen off over the past few years, from what it was during the first half of Zimmer's tenure.
