mdonnelly21
What was the Gap between T.O and Marvin Harrison during their prime?
mdonnelly21
I always thought it was a small but CLEAR margin. In fact, I thought T.O was closer to Prime Moss than Harrison was to T.O but your splitting hairs there. Peak Moss was a 99/100 T.O was a 98.5 Marvin was a 97.
Jeezla
This is kinda like Davante vs Tyreek Marvin was better at the stuff leading up to the catch, TO was better once the ball was in his hands and probably when the ball was in the air. AngusMcFife
Harrison was much better in domes, and was lucky enough to have Manning throwing to him in a dome for his whole career aside his first two years. If you Harrison had been on an outdoor team with mediocre QB play, he'd be a very good WR but nothing more. Owens was dominant in any stadium and had massive production even with so-so QBs.
43M
I dont even like TO and its pretty significant. Harrison was a great player, but I probably dont even consider him top 10 all time whereas TO is almost unquestionably top 5.
SHONUFF
Harrison was a superior player because he was a franchise cornerstone. TO just didn't have the mental make up to be a long term cornerstone, evident by his turbulent career. I consider Harrison to be a great, TO as being a good receiver.

Again, I dont like TO, but he was far more than a "good" WR. Harrison was a superior teammate and more reliable, yes. Talentwise, TO was head and shoulders above Harrison. Thats not a knock on Harrison, but TO was a special talent. If he wasnt such a headcase, he probably wouldve challenged Rice's receiving records. He put up nearly 1000 yards at age 37 with a mediocre Carson Palmer throwing to him. I can see the argument for Harrison when you factor everything in, but if youre comparing them at the tops of their games....hands down its TO. Its crazy to think what TO could have done with Peyton Manning in a dome.
August4th
I always looked at TO/Moss as 1A/B during that era with Harrison in a tier below
FinSting
Whoo lawdy. Difficult to remember this old stuff but after checking the stats...imagine Marvin Harrison having to share passes with Reggie Wayne in 2002, QB handing the ball off constantly to RB Edgerrin James and *still* Marvin explodes for 1,722 yds receiving.
Kiwibrown
interesting comp. If you swapped their places both probably do worse, TO, IMO wouldnt have been able to handle sharing the spot light with Manning, Edge and others.

Now imagine if said QB, was Jeff Garcia? 👍
lancerman
Harrison gets underrated a lot because of the credit his QB often gets and how he didn’t perform in the playoffs

I know a lot of that had to do with a relatively down period of QB play from 00-03 but you could do a lot worse
