I've read he's not likely to declare, but if he keeps lighting up box scores, I wouldn't be shocked if people prefer him over Ewers/Penix/Maye. It's hard to say how good he really is before he faces more good defenses. He's had one awful game against a good team, and one good game. Utah will be the real test. But like you said, even if he hops Drake Maye, I don't think there's a snowball's chance in hell he comes out this year. He's gonna help his dad build Colorado into a competitor next year, and that family has no need for NFL money (he's gonna be drowning in NIL money next year anyway). 2 hours ago, Jeezla said: Jer'Zhan Newton at DT. Wouldn't say he's blue chip, but very good. Was hoping he would come out last year. Don't think he's any worse than Benton, and I liked Keeanu a lot. Newton is a stud. Caught my attention last year when he ate John Michael Schmitz's lunch in the first quarter. I think he's a high quality DT at the next level, but I also think he's a rotational guy more than a star, every snap DT.

Build you a strong rotation of guys who can get after it.

Caleb Maye MHJ Nabers That's essentially it. Alt is nowhere near dominant enough in the run game to be a blue chip Tackle.
sparky151
I don't think Maye is a blue chip. He'll get drafted early but has considerable bust potential imo.
Tugboat
1 hour ago, General Tso said: Less than a month left, let's update this, who classifies as the blue chips? I'd say for my money, probably... MHJ. Joe Alt. Rome Odunze/Malik Nabers. Troy Fautanu (if you consider him as a OT who could "fail upward" as a blue chip Guard a la Brandon Scherff). Caleb Williams i guess (in so much as a non-generational QB ever can be, though i've got some reservations). Brock Bowers (in so much as a jumbo receiver type TE ever can be). I also think guys like Graham Barton / Cooper DeJean / Byron Murphy have some fringe "blue chip" qualities to them, as relatively "can't miss" guys with solid upside. But also not necessarily superstar upside, or even my own personal Top Guy at their respective positions.
tyler735
The true “blue chip” guys are: Brock Bowers Marvin Harrison Jr Caleb Williams Joe Alt There are some great prospects but not quite “blue chip” in: Malik Nabers Jayden Daniels Olu Fashanu Dallas Turner

There are others like that in this draft too. Guys that i like at or near the top of their position group, but carry a little bit too much of the unknown and "bust potential" to be what i'd call "blue chip" can't miss guys with above average starter upside. Maye definitely has the potential to be anything from the best QB in the draft, to a completely catastrophic bust. There are also guys like Quinyon Mitchell who has huge upside, but there's plenty of projection going on there. Same for my top DT with Jer'Zhan Newton. I think he's the best defensive player in this class and i'd draft him accordingly because the upside is just so darn high...but there are enough nagging little questions that i would hesitate to call him truly "blue chip". Daniel
For clarity, I think a blue chip is a guy who is NFL ready, who ticks every box, and who for all appearances, looks like he's a future high level NFL player. I don't consider anyone who can be described as "raw" a blue chip. Anyone with obvious athletic limitations is not a blue chip. You have to check every box. For me, that's just: Marvin Harrison Jr. Malik Nabers Rome Odunze Joe Alt Taliese Fuaga (as a RT) Troy Fautanu (as a OG) Graham Barton Brock Bowers Byron Murphy Jared Verse is on the line. He checks all the boxes, but he's not the bendiest pass rusher. He kinda falls into the definition technically, but just by a hair, because he's almost all speed-to-power on tape. sparky151
To me a blue chip is a player with a high floor. Something like solid starter as a rookie and by a couple years into his career will be in the upper third or quarter of starters at his position. With a ceiling that has multiple pro bowls, maybe even the HoF. So for this draft, I'll say Caleb Williams Marvin Harrison Jr Malik Nabers Joe Alt Brock Bowers Taliese Fuaga Troy Fautanu Graham Barton Quinyon Mitchell Cooper DeJean Byron Murphy Those are all players I'd feel good about picking in the first half of the first round and being confident they won't bust. MSURacerDT55
There is something that is not sitting right with me about calling a 6'3 240 Brock Bowers Blue Chip.
